| Alternative Therapies - Hypnotherapy BBC2 Programme What are peoples impressions of the programme that watched it?
(for those not in UK it may be online somewhere like Youtube not checked yet).
I know was another thread on it but as it had 'tonight' , thought I would add another about it.
Interesting programme, but could have been bit better produced - long pointless shots coming out train stations, hazy arty parts, sitting on the bed in hotel rooms , etc - could have been better filled and more effective use of the programmes running time.
The research on Hypnotherapy is largely divided amongst the 'experts' - how it works, why it works, etc. Research shown on the programme indicated the brain activates different parts when 'in trance' undergoing Hypnosis than it does just relaxing or mentally visualizing.
There were examples with someone that wan't to diet & give up chocolate, and another trying to stop smoking. Both relapsed later a bit, but as they say - if you can stop one day , you can stop the next, the week after , the month after, etc.
Dentist in Scotland that used Hypnosis whilst removing teeth and drilling! No anesthitic used. Amazingly, the patient felt no pain & didn't scream once!
They could have chose better or more renowned Hypnotists to speak to for better perspective on the subject & how they believe it works - where was Paul Mckenna , etc? Instead we got some guy in Birmingham treating someone for smoking. And some stage hypnotist from Ireland. Neither of whom anyone has heard of.
Well worth seeing, if I come across a link I'll post it. For those in UK it may well get repeated maybe on BBC3. |
