Here is a challange to see if by phrasing an email in a particular way you can push the buttons of someone that you have never met and who uses english as a second language.

The Background.

My hard disk failed a few weeks ago, this particular failure can normally be reversed with the right electronics. I found a company on Ebay that sells the system at a good price. I spoke to two previous customers who have purchased the system and they said that it had arrived although it took some time.

I bought the system and the next day the seller disapeared from Ebay after I had payed him. I may have lost my money but it is possible that he might be encouraged to send me a system if I can make him want to.

Here is the letter that I was going to send. I have tried to appeal to national pride, honesty and family. I think these may be some suitable buttons to press. Any sugestions for changes or additions that might improve my change of sucess. The seller is a Chinese Malasian why writes good english.

Dear Jacky,

I have heard from you yet. I hope this is due to some temporary technical problem.

I am looking forward to receiving my hard disc drive repair system that I won on Ebay. The payment was sent by paypal on 16th March. 450 USD for the system and 52 USD for postage and packing.

I need the system to repair the hard disk that contains many years of family pictures. I have saved for many months to buy this system and Paypal does not provide refunds from Malasia.

I have very positive feelings towards Malasia and would like to see it one day. My roommate at college was a Chinese Malasian and he told me a lot about your country.
I felt that my money would be safe with you.

I look forward to opening my system very soon and seeing my pictures again.

Best regards

Nick Haynes
