Hello Everyone,
Thank you to those of you who were at the meeting yesterday.
We covered Parts Integration, and I believe everyone enjoyed and benefitted from it immensely.
Summary of this process is included below.
Practice topic: Parts Integration
The purpose of this process is to bring together two conflicting parts within a person, so that they can feel 'whole' and act more congruently and smoothly on a matter of importance to them.
- Invite the client to sit comfortably with the option to place their palms on their laps (or a table if that's easier)
- Identify the conflict and the two parts
- Invite one of the two parts to appear in the palm of a hand (whichever the client chooses is perfect)
- Elicit a description of the part: how it looks, feels, size, texture, weight
- Then find out the intention of the of this part by chunking up with questions such as: ''for what purpose'' ''for what intention'' ''what will that allow you'', until you get to the highest intention
- Invite the other part to appear in the other palm
- Elicit a description of the part: how it looks, feels, size, texture, weight
- Then find out the intention of the of this part by chunking up with questions such as: ''for what purpose'' ''for what intention'' ''what will that allow you'', until you get to the highest intention
- Ask one hand to look at the other and check to see if there are any resources it would like to take from the other part, and vice versa
- Let the parts know that they are part of a larger whole system, which is the person
- Invite the client to bring their hands together, to enable the two parts to integrate and merge.
- If the client doesn't want to do this, ask if there is a third symbol that appears as a result of these two parts merging - elicit brief description of this new symbol
- Then invite the client to bring their hands together and bring the parts or the symbol back into themselves, where it can merge into the whole being
Test and future pace
All the best,
Natalie
