Richard Bandler - I don't think so...

Hi,

I have just joined this forum and am relatively new to NLP. I have been studying Self help books now for only about 4 years and have now fallen across the subject of NLP. I am very excited about leaning all of these brilliant things, however, I have got one major issue with it which is bugging me and stopping from leaning and getting into NLP.

I am honestly very sceptical to take NLP and its techniques seriously/whole heartedly when reviewing the life of Richard Bandler. Here is a man who co-founded NLP and has been applying its techniques throughout his life:

He has been accused of murder, was a coke addict for years, has been divorced, has been declared bankrupt twice (once when he was 50!), is obese!! And, I saw a video of one of his seminars (to celebrate 30 years of NLP) and he does not seem like a very likeable character/a role model.

Like I said I have only just started looking into NLP but these are some of the first facts that I have come across. What are your thoughts on Richard Bandlers life? Doesn’t it say something about his business strategies if when he was 50 he was declared bankrupt? And his health when you look at him? The list goes on I’m afraid…
