Sad to report the death of one of my favourite clients.

Flo , was an elderly lady , who had tried everything , that she could to stop smoking.

When I was introduced to her...she had already tried , Hypnotherapy (£250 for one session), Nicotine Patches , Nicotine Gum , Willpower , Precription tablets , and her own Doctor , had paid for 6 sessions of Acupuncture out of his own pocket.

During our pre-hypnotherapy chat , I noticed that she was a very nervous lady .

I asked her , was she always nervous and had she always been a nervous person. She said No !

I asked her how long she had been nervous...and she replied ''38 Years''.

I was shocked...how could she be so accurate ?

I asked her. She told me that 38 years ago, she had recently got married , had a young family, and found one of her children , dead in the Kitchen.

Ever since that time , she had suffered Nervous breakdown , after Nervous breakdown , and spent many days and weeks in Psychiatric units and Hospitals , all over the country.

I also now noticed , that she had breathing difficulties.

I asked her how long she had had , the breathing difficulties...she said 6 years....it was emphysema !

Don't ask me why , intuition , I guess , but I asked her , did anything else happen , around that time ?
She replied ''Yes...I lost my husband!'' I further enquired , how did your husband die...she replied that he had died of Emphysema , the same disease , that she was showing symptons of then...from the time of her husbands death .

It seemed to me that she had taken over her husbands illness, on his death.

During my Hypnotherapy sessions , there is always a spot for letting go of problems, worries and stresses , which leaves my clients , worry and stress free , for maybe the first time in a long time !

''Write the problems and worries on a leaf and throw the leaves in the fast flowing river below''.

I said to Flo , while under , Hypnosis , that some of those problems , went back a long , long time...and it was time to let them go now...because she had carried them round for long enough.It was time to let them go !

Flo physically changed her appearance , before my very eyes, from a frail , ill little old lady , whose head was slumped sympathetically and heavily onto her right shoulder,and chest.

I was like a great weight had been removed from her shoulders...and a great load from her mind !

Her body seemed to fill up with strength...her posture became one of a healthy strong sturdy middle aged , lady , sitting upright now in the chair !

The frail weak , dying depressed old lady was no more.( It was like watching something out of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde...but much , much nicer ! )

Her daughter , came in at the end of the session and asked almost sarcastically ,''Well has it worked ?'' she was expecting disappointment , as they had had from all the other treatments .

I told her , not only has it worked , but you have a new mum !

She looked at me as if I was mad ! The next 2 weeks , Flo's daughters rang me almost everynight...they couldn't believe the change in their mother....they had never known her so happy in 38 years....their words , not mine.

A couple of years later..the New Year had got off to a slow start , and I was looking though my Phone List , to see who I could contact...who would cheer me up...I rang Flo.

Flo was very excited , that I had rang her , and said that , that one session of Hypnotherapy , had changed her life.

I was pleased for Flo , I was pleased for me , and I was pleased for Hypnotherapy.

A few minutes later...while I was driving my car , my mobile phone called out. I answered...it was Flo

''By the way , did I tell you I have cancer !''

There was no fear in her voice, she was matter of fact about her condition , and was as happy as the day that I had left her.I was mortified !

I popped around to see her...had a session again with her...and recorded the session , so that she could self treat. She couldn't afford to pay my fees , and refused my offer of free treatment , so it was the best compromise.

The recorded session , dealt with controlling and reducing the pain , while also tackling the cancer , in her body.

She never complained about her bad luck ....she never got depressed again...she was a lovely lady.

I rang her house just the other day....only to be told by her daughter , that she had died.

Her daughter thanked me for my help, and said her mother was very grateful , that I had been able to help her.

I put the phone down...and I cried ! Tears silently running down my cheeks. My wife , asked me what was the matter.

I couldn't speak.I was all choked up.

My points in this story are

1) We who enter this profession , have a gift and a duty.

Our gift is , that we want to and can make peoples lives better.

Our duty is that we should do that , to the best of our ability.

I charged Flo , £20 for the first treatment,(compare that to the £250 that somebody had previously charged her for one session ) because she was a little old lady , and didn't look like she could afford any more....

She insisted I take £10 for the second treatment...and recording the session.

Flo not only stopped smoking , in that one session...but also let go of 38 years of depression !

I am proud to be a Member of this Caring profession...it is not and never should be...all to do with money.

It is however...all to do with Magic...the Magic of the Mind...the Magic of the client...and the Magic , that we perform , each and every day , for the rest of our lives !
