National Hypnotherapy Code of Ethics

I've just received this from the General Hypnotherapy Register people. Has anybody here been involved with the consultation / working group? What do you think about it?

GHR practitioners are advised that the consultation period for the proposed National Hypnotherapy Code of Ethics has now commenced. Although our most recent News Bulletin (No.25, January ’07) stated that GHR therapists would not need to register individually in order to participate in the initial consultation and subsequent voting procedure, in the interests of openness and transparency, this decision has been reversed. All practitioners are therefore urged to visit the Working Group’s website at www.hypnotherapyregulation.co.ukand sign up via the blue button displayed at the top of the page. Having done so, you should then view the draft Code at http://www.hypnotherapyregulation.co.uk/nationalcodeofethics/ and send any comments or suggested amendments (referenced by their respective Clause Numbers) or suggested additional Clauses, via email to info@hypnotherapyregulation.co.uk

All responses will be read and wherever there is reasonable commonality on a particular issue, the draft will be amended accordingly. (From time to time, examples of such responses will be published on the Working Group’s website.)

The consultation period will run for three months until 1st June 2007, after which, a finalised draft of the Code will be published on the site in order that the democratic voting procedure may be put into operation.

As soon as the voting procedure has been concluded, the Working Group will publicise the next item on its regulation agenda.

Please don’t miss this opportunity to participate within the most inclusive poll of the profession’s collective view that has ever been undertaken. The regulation of Hypnotherapy, whilst possibly not imminent, is nonetheless a future certainty and to ensure that it takes the form that is most acceptable to the majority of the profession (rather than one that might be imposed from without), it is essential that an indisputable mandate is delivered. It will take just a minute or two of your time to visit www.hypnotherapyregulation.co.uk and to register your interest.
