| In thread:2535 John said: (The point about modelling as far as I've understood it within NLP terms is that it is behaviour that is modelled. Beliefs and values may be deduced from these things that they are not to observable and at best can only be guessed at.)i
And James said: (I'm certainly not adept enough at talking about NLP to offer some additional info about this subject but as far as doing it goes, I can contribute from experience that the most effective modelling I've done has been that where I've elicited beliefs and value systems as part of a more 'thorough' process over time. Perhaps this deserves a seperate thread? any takers?)i
A quick flick through (Introducing NLP)i by O'Connor and Seymour and I came up with this: (You can model any human behaviour if you can master the beliefs, physiology and the...strategies...that lie behind it... One of the simplest ways to model the beliefs of people...is to ask them questions about why they do what they do...)i [Pages 182-183]
I know the book isn't the definitive word.
I'd be interested to read other views about this topic.
