Hi All
I have someone who has approached me as a hynotherapist for help with weight control. This is a young woman who has grand mal siezures. The condition started a couple of years ago and she has had 5 gm siezures in that time. She is on Epilen medication. However when she consulted her GP it seems she was told there would be a risk of siezure in trance. She also went on the web and also found material which contraindicated the use of hypnosis. As i am in training still as a hynotherapist I had checked out with my college principal beforehand and was told that in the past the use of hypnosis with people who have epileptic siezures was commonly avoided. However now the view is that the trance is not going to bring on a siezure therefore it is a safe method to work on other issues for the client.

I would welcome any experience/ knowledge others may have on the use of hynosis generally where the client has epilepsy and the risk of siezure in trance states.

Many thanks
Andrew
