Verified Members Hello everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
You may have already noticed a new feature on NLP Connections - Verified Membership. It's been running in the background for a while and I'm announcing it today so you can start getting the benefits.
Anyone I've met personally "in real life" has become a verified member and their posts now display a little tick. The idea is that other members can see that these are definitely real people and you can therefore be more confident when reading their reviews and recommendations.
NLP Connections is different to most forums in the way we ask everyone to use their real name and be personally responsible for what they post. Whether you're announcing your own events or reviewing other people's, I think it adds credibility when you post under your own name.
People can also become verified members if they've met one of the other community mentors - Jen or Bridget - or very ocassionally if they are well known in the field, perhaps as a trainer for example, and if I've checked in with them, via their company e-mail address for example, so I know it's them using their account.
In the future, there will be other ways to become verified and there will also be more benefits for verified members. For now, this is a very simple system and it's in its first phase of testing.
Around 65% of posts are by people who have already been verified.
If you've met me or Jen or Bridget and you're not showing up as verified yet, please send me a private message and I'll click the necessary buttons.
I'm interested in feedback about this. Please let me know what you think, and have a fantastic 2009.

Re: Verified Members Hey come on over to Glasgow for a coffee so you can verify me ;-) I have been involved in web site projects in the past where member verification was discussed. methods of verification included scanning official ID documents such as driving licence or passport and emailing to the site admin. What concerns me with that one is you could be stepping into the world of data protection issues. I think I should be verified on the basis that if I was fake I would have used a much better looking guy in my photo ;-) -
Re: Verified Members I second that about my photo come for a cup of tea by the sea Chris and il even make a cake,or what would be a fab idea would be a nlp connections conference with guest speakers, for a small fee that way the whole community could come.

Re: Verified Members I like the idea of a national tour where people make me cakes... -
Re: Verified Members You could see who could come up with the yummiest cake that had jelly babies included in the ingredients. -
Hey Chris what does one have to do to become un-verified?
I only remember biscuits in Leeds Tina, are cakes a new addition? -
Re: Verified Members I've recently reconnected with my baking skills and am loving any excuse to come up with something new.
;o) -
Re: Verified Members I feel so left out ... not being verified and all.
What can I do to rectify the situation?
If someone will be visiting Maryville, Missouri anytime soon you are welcome to stop by my house for a nice, steaming cup of green tea with honey. Or, Earl Gray if you prefer. :-)
I, of course, am often known to indulge in my daily coffee fix and will be happy to share with anyone.
Treats. Of course, I will provide treats, too!
Take care,

Re: Verified Members Michael,
Yup. 10 years is a long, long, time. And still I feel I am just beginning to scratch the surface of everything NLP has to offer.
Oh, and I'd like to go on record for all of you who have been my friends for these past 10 years ... I really appreciate you!
Take care,
