    Guide to Trance-formations

    Hi all,

has anybody read the new Guide to Trance-formations yet (available from amazon.com)?

I'm interested in the differences between it and the original Trance-formations which is difficut to get hold of.

    Thanks

    Re: Guide to Trance-formations

    Richard,

I think that the new Trance-Formations is well written, and an incredibly easy read. If a person with no prior knowledge were wanting to learn the basics of hypnosis, I would recommend it. It is not an in-depth book, and not academic at all.

The first Trance-Formations, as I recall, is basically transcripts of seminars, and this new book is definitely not in that format--a major point worth bringing out.

    Re: Guide to Trance-formations

I've read the new book twice now, and am going back for my third reading of the original. The books are very similar in that they both present some aspects of hypnosis and NLP "from the ground up." The first book concentrated quite heavily on trance; the new one seems more concerned with "eyes-open" processes, but that said there's not a tremendous amount of difference between those two concepts, in my opinion.

The first book is, as Phil pointed out, a transcript of a three-day seminar, while the new one is structured more like a how-to. I don't feel the new one takes the place of the old, and I think both are quite valuable to anyone wanting to learn more about hypnosis and NLP and how they relate.

    Re: Guide to Trance-formations

Hi thanks Phil and Bridgette for your replies.
I'm looking forward to reading the book - from the table of contents and your reviews it seems to be different and a valuable addition to my ever expanding collection of nlp books.

michael - if you wish you can get get the book from amazon.com where the price is good and the p&P is quite reasonable.

    Re: Guide to Trance-formations

Interestingly, Amazon have just emailed me saying this book is not obtainable and they've cancelled my order! I see someone else has had this experience too.

    Cheers
