Posts: 2 | | | The Secret Hi everyone. I'm new to this but thought i'd mention an audio book called 'The Secret' that was lent to me recently. I've listened to two out of the four cd's so far and had a really positive day yesterday after not having much positivity for such a long time! It's a positive thinking stratagy and seems to work so far. It teaches you how to gain the things you need in life and ward off negative feelings within yourself. I think you can purchase is from amazon and i would definately give it a go if you're struggling to change your personal situation. Out of interest, does anyone else out there have any experience of using this product? I would like to other peoples experiences of what changes have occurred for them. Many thanks. So now you have 4 parts Ask,Believe,Receive, Take action.

Hi
Very true Jay, that is the missing ingredient. I found that by changing the 4 part sequence slightly to Ask....Believe.....Take action.. ..Recieve, produced slightly better results, for me it did anyway.
Have agreat day

It was not written out as a sequence- to follow- it was how the sequence was published- into the public domain.

Posts: 16 | | | -The Secret was originally a book written by Rhonda Byrne's printed in 2006, which was later made into a documentary produced by Prime Time Productions, explaining the Law of attraction. - The Law of Attraction says people's thoughts (both conscious and unconscious) dictate the reality of their lives, whether or not they're aware of it. Essentially "if you really want something and truly believe it's possible, you'll get it", but putting a lot of attention and thought onto something you don't want means you'll probably get that too. -
this universal law is working in your life right now, whether you are aware of it or not. You are attracting the people, situations, jobs and much more into your life. Once you are aware of this law and how it works, you can start to use it to deliberately attract what you want into your life. | | | | Message posted: 23rd Oct 08, 10:04 pm

The Secret is big over here in Italy a short video is on my Italian NLP site, where it explains the Law of Attraction!
It's funny ever since I watched it, I totally identified with this law and now this has become my sister and my catchphrase! It's amazing how attractive the law of Attraction is! It certainly works for us our lives get better and better! The more you think about what you want and where you want to be the more you attract these things into your lives! It's really common sense after all! Think BIG that's what you'll get and the same goes for the opposite but who's interested in that!

I have had such a keen knowledge on learning about NLP, that I have made it my career by fusing together sales and NLP. The job i have today is as a result of applying the secret.
You attract what you focus on.
i would like to invite you to watch a seminar that will change your perception of the power of focus and belief.
it goes from 1 to 18.... if you want to see the whole thing go to youtube and type the best from Anthony robbins

| Yes, it works. I have used 'the secret' to create 3 successful businesses (despite healthy competition) since 1993, long before the film / book / website was created. But beware of the negative implications. Exactly as described in 'The Secret', if you focus on failure, you will get it too! Why do you think we are having a global economy meltdown? It's because so many people are writing and talking about how bad it is, hence the continuing problem BUT...there are quite a few businesses that are doing really well, making a lot of money and being successful because that is what they focus on. If you look at my first posting (in the introductions section) you will see what i mean. Best wishes...and believe it.

Posts: 760 | | | Re: The Secret 'The Secret' is essentially a means of validating greed by applying a patina of spirituality to it. Congrats for anyone who has got off their arse and achieved stuff, which John Keith appears to have done, but the key really is the getting off your arse. From what I hear of the people behind 'The Secret', it's merely the latest in a succession of New Age entrepreneurial projects they've been involved with. Yes, a positive attitude is important -- but please don't mistake that for entitlement. If you want to see where that attitude leads, look to Noel Edmonds and interviews where he's talking about Cosmic Ordering...

'The Secret' is essentially a means of validating greed by applying a patina of spirituality to it. .
| The Secret might come accross as being that, because of mass deletion/omissions (*) of parts of the book in which it was inspired, "the science of getting rich" by wallace t. wattles, the book DOES explain very well the whole point you label as greed, and questions common beliefs regarding money, richness and since you mentioned it, greed or "the greediness behind pursuing financial wealth" should that be more accurate.
The "take action" part of the equation would be another omission regarding to the book which specifies clearly that anything will be drawn towards us but will not happen without the "take action" part.
Sincerely,
Roberto

Posts: 10 | | | Re: The Secret I saw the DVD in the UK so there may have been omissions. I have to admit to not being impressed. If it had been mine I would have thrown it away. As a couple of people mentioned above, it seemed to state "Do nothing, just really want it and it will come to you" or worse yet "bad stuff happens because people want it" - does that apply to illness, pain, loss, accidents etc?
I think what I consider to be the more 'NLP' aspects were good i.e. focus, positivity, a way of looking at the world but I cannot condone nor recommend any belief system that removes responsibility. To me, NLP / Self devlopment is like a set of instructions on how to be or do better. But YOU must still do the ground work. NO ONE else can do it for you. The Secret to my mind, simply says that just because you want it you will get it. I believe you can have what you want but you must take responsibility for yourself by thinking AND doing what will get you there.
Desire without action leads to a sense of "I want it because I deserve it and therefore I will do nothing."
I believe (and I thank Michael Neill for this) that you do not have to always take the hard road...but you must nevertheless take A road to travel on and not stand at the cross roads waiting for the destination to come to you.
Just my thoughts :-)

Posts: 377 | | | Re: The Secret I have never seen or read the secret but the topic came up in conversation in one of my classes and from what was explained it seemed a bit flakey.
I think it is better to SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achieveable, Realistic and Time Bound) goals and then chart how you are doing against the goal and if you want to put them under your pillow and dream about achieveing them fine! but take some action and responsibility for making them happen..... just my two penny's worth

Posts: 225 | | | NLP Practitioners should not really recommend the 'mumbo jumbo' stuff out there 'The Secret', Cosmic Ordering System, etc, they can recommend them if they want of course, but they are essentially talikng responsobilty AWAY from the individual - you just sit twiddle your thumbs and order from the cosmos what you want / or follow the Law of Attraction, you'll get everything you want in life, yeh sure if only! Fact is some after following it will get results it's inevitable given the statistics involved, but that is just chance coincidence not down some to mystical system.
Amazing many of these successful works 'The Secret' , Deepak Chophra's '7 Spiritual Laws of Success', etc are really the same old stuff repackaged & remarketed. Works like 'The Secret' add in the fairy tale that this mystical knowledge was passed down through the ages, yes of course it was how would the World have coped without it lol!
Go on a lecture tour usingthe best NLP technology, maybe repackaging it and not saying it is NLP to make it seem unique / OR do the same but say your knowledge all came from Chief Running Bull your spirit Guide, your GuardianAngel, or God - and trust me you will attract a FAR bigger audience! Nothing wrong with being into the New Age stuff, but many are naive and gullible within it, and nearly all the leaders in the field got their knowldege from the cosmos/ spirit guides / or they are an Avatar, etc. | | | | Message posted: Today, 02:04 am

Posts: 13 | | | Re: The Secret Erm..cautious to offend any "The Secret" fanatics...I'm a bit disgusted when someone mentions the secret in anything remotely as effective as NLP. Swish pattern? Timelines? TOTE model? Sleight of Mouth patterns??? Umm..ALL of those techniques are infnitely more effect than the overinflated reiteration of "focus on something and you'll get it", aka the secret. "NLP practitioners" who speak highly of the secret just, imho, provide evidence that they truly do not understand nor utilize NLP. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | |
