Review - 2 Day Free NLP Course - NLP Excellence As promised in my introductory post, here is my review of the free 2 day course I went on with NLP Excellence.
NLP Excellence is owned and run by John Cassidy-Rice, and he was our trainer for the 2 day course.
The days started at 9am with registration (and much needed coffee!) and finished at 5.30pm.
The reason this course is free (and it is COMPLETELY free, not one of those "free" courses where you pay an admin charge, or pay for materials) is because John sees this as a fair and ethical way to do business - to introduce people not only to the concepts of NLP, but also to his company, and to see if you enjoy his training style.
He told us from the start that he would be doing a 10 minute sales pitch on his Practitioner course - which he did (and it really did only last 10 minutes! Even with his dancing! )
John is a very entertaining, down to earth, and approachable presenter, and made us all feel relaxed from the start. We were all given manuals to work through with him, with a powerpoint presentation in front of us, and also backed up in the manual.
in a packed 2 days, with lots of time for practicing, we covered:
The history of NLP;
What NLP is
Maps of reality
Sensory Acuity
Rapport
Representational systems
Sensory languague
Setting Outcomes
State Management
Eye Accessing Cues
Submodalities
Presuppositions of language
Anchoring
and quite a bit more!
The manual contains all of the info covered in the trraining, plus addition information.
I found the 2 days challenging (and I was pushed out of my comfort zone once or twice - which is very interesting - I have a large comfort zone - and don't get out of it very often ).
The course was well structured, with John always on hand to give advice and help during practical work.
At the end we were each given a copy of the powerpoint presentation, which he suggested that we watch regularly, to remind us of what we have learned.
To get a diploma from John you not only have to attend the 2 day course, but you need to also do some homework - an assessment of what we have learned, plus an essay on how we are using the skills we now have.
John also sends out a series of 10 weekly emails to remind us of what we have learned, and give us extra information about NLP.
All in all, a very enjoyable 2 days, well recommended to anyone new to NLP. (Although John also does Master Practitioner and Train the trainer courses for anyone who has already got their Practitioner certificate).
If you have not been on an NLP training course, I suggest you check this course out. You will learn a lot during your 2 days - and you will learn whether NLP is right for you.
And the big question - will I be attending his full Practitioner course? YES, I will.
Hope you found that review helpful! -
Re: Review - 2 Day Free NLP Course - NLP Excellence Great!
John Cassidy Rice is one of my favorite people - one of NLP's best kept secrets. He's been a speaker at my group a couple of times now and both times got rave reviews. His knowledge on neurology is also most impressive.
JCR - Approved!! -
Re: Review - 2 Day Free NLP Course - NLP Excellence Hi Andrew
Yes John covered a bit on the brain in the 2 days, although he says he does more of it in the Practitioner course.
If you are interested in the brain and how it works I can recommend a great book - Mapping the Mind, by Rita Carter. It only costs £8.99, and it is very readable, (with lots of pictures!) -
Re: Review - 2 Day Free NLP Course - NLP Excellence Oh yes.."Mapping The Mind" is possibly the best neuro book written. Too many books are either far too academic, or far too simplifed. Rita Carter is a medical journalist who takes the complex stuff and makes it highly readable.
If you haven't seen it, V.S Ramachandran`s book, "Phantoms in the Brain" is also an excellent read. (Lots of video clips of Ramachandran on YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. too, which make fascinating viewing.) -
Re: Review - 2 Day Free NLP Course - NLP Excellence Thanks Andrew, I will check that out. Videos on youtube very interesting! -
Re: Review - 2 Day Free NLP Course - NLP Excellence I agree with Andrew "Phantoms in the Brain" is an excellent read with the material fitting nicely with some of the ideas in Cognitive psychology (see Steven Pinkers "The Blank Slate" and Daniel Dennett's "Darwin's Dangerous Idea"). I admire Ramachandran's way of exploring interesting neurological conditions and relating them to how the mind works. http://www.inspiritive.com.au -
Re: Review - 2 Day Free NLP Course - NLP Excellence I'm off to Chichester the following weekend to take this free nlp diploma course with John Cassidy Rice.
The thread is a bit old now but does anyone have any comments on this course should anyone have done it recently?
I've studdyed NLP through home courses and stuff but this is my first actual face to face induction into the whole feild. So I'm curious as to what to expect. -
