Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days -
Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days Hi,
Please share your comments if you have read this book. Thank you.

Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days Oops.. just noticed that there already is a thread on this book. Sorry! -
Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days maybe there is room for a similar book and CD utilising more hypnosis to embed the changes and it could be called change your life in seven daze -
Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days I am not sure whether it is helpful to hear hypnosis CDs. Not going to be as effective as doing live hypnosis, for sure. -
Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days A generic hypno CD isn't going to be as effective as a live personal session, I agree with that. Note the 'as effective' though ... this is still life-changing stuff. Several family members have taken up my recommendation and are suggesting this book and CD to their friends.
True, I've also gained some clients who have become convinced of the effectiveness of NLP and hypnosis by listening to the CD and reading the book, and need more ... http://www.personalchangemagic.co.uk -
Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days Great book for introducing the ideas behind NLP and getting changes made quickly. Great CD for letting the life-changing begin. I recommend it frequently. -
Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days Thanks, Ian and Bridget. I will be buying the book soon. -
Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days I've always found Paul McKenna accessible and engaging, this book continues along this theme.
For me it severed as a simple introduction to NLP which i’ve been interested in ever since.
Did it change my life in 7 days? I don’t know, but it certainly pointed me in the right direction.
Obviously Paul’s books are only as effective as the effort put in by the person reading it. -
Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days Great book. Really impacted me. I still need to 'top up' on it on a fairly regular basis to keep me in the right direction. Buy it, you will not regret it.

Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days I didn't think much if the book, but the CD is brilliant.
It's worth buying just for the CD, I think.

Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days Thanks all, for sharing your views. I am not much looking forward to a 7-day transformation after reading the book (at the same time, I doubt if this is a useful presupposition, may be I'll benefit much more if I really look forward to it, dunno . But anyway, I want to know how Paul McKenna communicates his ideas and how he has applied the NLP techniques so as to design this unique transformative work; something I wish to emulate in my workshops/classes. -

I didn't think much if the book, but the CD is brilliant.
Hi Ivor - it would be very interesting to know what you didn't like about the book. I ask purely in the interests of learning how to write this sort of book (i.e not attempting to start a heated debate, and I'm not asking you for a lengthy review - just a quick insight is fine, and if you don't wish to expand that's fine too :-)) http://www.personalchangemagic.co.uk -
Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days Hi Ian - You've asked a good question and it's made me think about why I don't like the book. And the reason is that I don't like the style that the author has adopted.
The book consists of fairly short chapters written in a chatty style that is easy to read. But I think it is superficial and there is little meat to it. Personally, I prefer a 'heavier' read with more depth being given to the subject matter.
Of course, this is a subjective opinion and I'm sure many people will find the style enjoyable. In fact, I guess that market research has shown that the majority of people like this kind of writing and that this is the best style to use if you want to maximise sales!
I hope this helps.
Ivor

Re: Paul McKenna's Change Your Life in Seven Days Thanks Ivor - I was just curious. For what it's worth I agree about the style and it's a great example of knowing the audience and writing for it. As with all of his books the typical reader is someone who just wants to get the benefits of NLP without knowing 'how it works'.
A 'heavy' McKenna book is an interesting thought ... we do have Richard Bandler's books though, among many others :-) http://www.personalchangemagic.co.uk -
It's a great book and CD and when I read it I can imagine Paul's actions and him saying the words.
So I would say the style of writing is very real, fresh and alive. Immediate!
And as change happens fast and can happen when you are laughing, I think that the style is perfect.
As a writer I know how clever this style of writing is, it is truly deceptive. I have found it interesting to look carefully at the patterns Paul uses with everyday language!
These books are not designed to teach you about NLP, I I think of the content as 'applied NLP'. Therefore you read the book, listen to the CD, do the work and you will get the results. You can see it like a cookbook rather than a book on nutritional theory and concepts of flavour matching and contrast in that an expert has tested all the recipes and all you have to do is believe and follow the instructions. -
