This is the first of a series of clips regarding the mirror-box, developed by Dr. V.S. Ramachandran, for treating phantom limb pain:

Re: Mirror Box for Phantom Limb Pain

Andy,

Whats the occurence of phantom limb pain and do they have to imagine the missing limb is doing the same action as the limb that is present making the reflection or merely appreciate the phantom is there and working as well as the real limb?

I attended the chichester study group when andy spoke about this.

It was informative and of course fascinating.

Vilayanur Ramachandran on your mind | Video on TED.com

This is the guy who developed the mirror box, a true genius, hopefully you give it to all who suffer from the horror of phantom limb pain.

Information starts at minute 10.

Re: Mirror Box for Phantom Limb Pain

Has anyone done anything to support TED? Everyone who wins gets 3 wishes and they outline exactly how the wish can fulfilled. I was thinking of helping somethign by applying something this guy said about contacting local schools but I haven't read enough about it. You can also offer them resources and things like that.
