The Art of Exquisite Calibration
with Sam Riordan and Jon Nicoll
Calibration within NLP describes the process of learning how to read another
person's responses in an ongoing interaction. Skill at calibration allows you
you 'read' those responses as they occur, instead of prejudging them or
hallucinating about what goes on with another person.
By learning where to put your attention, and what to be paying attention to,
you will begin to notice more of the information that's available to you,
revealing the patterns that are hidden in plain view. Using this information
can significantly enhance the way you communicate with others and will help
you to build effective and exquisite relationships in all areas of your
life. Effective Calibration is also an essential skill in NLP modelling and Strategy Elicitation.
For this evening we'll use some simple yet profound exercises designed to brush up
your skills. Newcomers to NLP will gain an insight into where to start; the more
experienced amongst you will appreciate that it's 'practicing the scales' that develops
exquisite performance.
