Re: NLP for Combat or Physical Sports

You two are too funny.

Of all the people up for a live demo I would have thought it would have been you Al. It would have been nice to hear some feedback from you guys. It is just too damn far for me to travel to the UK to see this guy in the flesh.

Maybe I can interest him enough to come out to Australia to run a Systema / Ballistic Striking seminar for the Australian Systema students. Oh and for me as well.

Re: NLP for Combat or Physical Sports

Lol cheers paul

I really dont see why me having a opinion about a martial arts clip means I have to go out of my way to check this guy out?

Paul to me the russian dude seems to be delivering well timed strikes, and is very relaxed while doing this.......plus he's quite a big dude...lol........is there much more to it than that or am i missing something?

Is it really that different to this?

YouTube - hatton bodyshot KO

there is no way i would wanna take a full on blow with that padding that guy in the clip had on.......if you wore that and let Ricky Hatton take pot shots on you'd be in big trouble and he is half the size of that dude....

Check out the padding padding Hatton's trainer Billy Graham uses lol

YouTube - Ricky Hatton

Re: NLP for Combat or Physical Sports

Hey Paul,

I'm vaguely interested - but got way too much on my plate at the moment.
I have a healthy wariness of chi power bollox - forgive my neander-maps.

I'd genuinely be interested to be on the receiving end to calibrate - as I've taken body shots from many champions - so would be agood to calibrate.

As with every aspect of NLP I keep a healthy amount of skepticism - until it pays for me to believe otherwise!

live long.

Lenny, I guess the thing that interested me about this guy was his ability to hit with power in both hands, with little to no wind up, very little body involvement and from the ground as well.

In systema the force generation is also different from a boxers. There is no emphasis on "correct" foot position or traditional boxing angles. Strikes are intended to be delivered with full power from anywhere and at anytime using a relaxed heavy hitting technique.

Recently I trained with a Jeet Kune Do instructor with a boxing background and to say the philosophies between the Systema trainer and the JKD instructor on punching and power were worlds apart, would not be an understatement in my opinion.

I agree Al, having healthy skepticism helps that is why I am keen to hear from people who may have seen this guy in the flesh. Videos on the net with compliant partners can look very good but do not convey the whole picture.

Paul - if I jog along and have a go - and get the rib bruises to prove it - will some uploaded pics sate your sick and evil mind?!

lol ;-)

No Al, it won't satisfy my evil mind but it would be a good beginning.

Anyway, I don't think you will have rib bruises to prove anything. As I mentioned it is a different sort of "hit". From what I have experienced so far within Systema, it is more like a heavy deep penetrating sickening sort of hit that seems to travel towards the organs. A "sickening" feeling rather than a feeling of impact better describes the effects.

Knowing that you have done a number of different art forms including your beloved Muay Thai, I would be keen to hear your feedback and your observations, if you did happen to jog a long and take look.

Given what we discussed on Skype about Proprioception, I think this would be a worthwhile investigation.

No need to take one for the team Al.

If you want to check out systema in the UK, visit www.systemauk.com. Rob Poyton can deliver the goods.

Or you can come and see me as I still teach Systema privately, though I wound up my classes to focus more on my NLP.
