Please help me to memorize this text

The text below is a format for amalgamation sums. How to memorize such accounting texts.
Type 1.

1. For Transferring Assets to Realisation A/c

Realisation A/c Dr -------------------------------------xxx
To Sundry assets(individually, at book values) -------------xxx
(Being transfer of assets to realisation A/c)

All assets, whether taken over or not have to be transferred. Even
assets not taken over have to be 'realised'. The only exception is
Cash or Bank balance.

Type 2.
2. For payment of realisation expenses

(a) If expenses are to borne by selling company or expenses payable by
purchasing company are already added to the purchase consideration.

Realisation A/c Dr -------------------------------------xxx
To Bank A/c ----------------------------------------------------xxx
(Being payment of expenses of realisation)

(b) If expenses are to be borne by the purchasing company and they are not a part of
purchase price

Purchasing Co A/c Dr ---------------------------------xxx
To Bank ---------------------------------------------------------xxx
(Being expenses paid on behalf of purchasing Co.)

Bank A/c Dr --------------------------------------------xxx
To Purchasing Co -----------------------------------------------xxx
(Being expenses paid reimbursed by the purchasing company)

There are 10 journal entries of Type 1. and Type 2. They are mixed up. How to memorize these texts.

Hmm Try these - non scientific but they might work...

1.
Try flashing at them -open closing eyes quicky . .over and over . . . in relaxed state.

2.
Try looking at the page with 'soft eyes' (google it).

3.
Try recording them with your voice and playing over and over.
4.
Try chewing gum (helps memory)
5.
Try smelling certain smell during the learning and repeat at night (when the day's learning is processed).
6.
Try getting yourself in a really fun loving playful and laughing state then read and learn . . . - alternative is get friend to hold gun to your head and threaten to shoot you unless you learn it (I don't suggest using live rounds - blanks might be better).

All these things might not work and might work.

Good luck fella

Re: Please help me to memorize this text

Hi Joe,

It depends on why you need to know the information and in what detail.

Assuming you need to lean it for an exam then I would imagine the text as a journey things happening along the way.

You will want to do this for a place or journey you know but I'll give an example of what I would do.

I would imagine that I am taking a package called Assets to a place in my house where I realise things.

>>1. For Transferring Assets to Realisation A/c

> Realisation A/c Dr -------------------------------------xxx
I would see a doctor by the front door

>>>>To Sundry assets(individually, at book values) -------------xxx
I would walk into my main room where I keep books and notice they still have their prices on them. They are covered in sundried tomatoes.

and so on. Make a little story that will remind you of the details.

Re: Please help me to memorize this text

Hi Joe, here are a few ideas:

Break some of the headings down into acronymns, eg
"2. For payment of realisation expenses" = P.O.R.E - you may be able to create another word from the first letter of the different acronymns. Then draw a mindmap from PORE to what relates to it.

Try teaching the phrases to someone who is prepared to listen since actually teaching something is the most effective way of remembering something.

Try sticking post its around the house with the info that you must learn.

Try to give each term some character/personality through a drawing or name. Draw all the characters/personalities and then use the drawing to elaborate on what they stand for.

I try to avoid solely focusing on the infomation on a bit of paper as this from my experience does not aid recall. Whatever you decide to do set yourself little tests on a regular basis to check your progress.

Hope this helps in some way - these are methods that i would find useful though thats my map. Good luck.

simon

Re: Please help me to memorize this text

As Nick says, It depends on why you need to know the information and in what detail.

So, given that I am ignorant of that, and the fact I am a complete ignoramous on the topic itself, my suggestion might be good for nothing more than a snort of derision, but I'll suggest away, anyway!

As well as - not instead of - the excellent and elegant suggestions offered for memorising (the text), what about learning how to Transfer Assets to Realisation A/c and to make payment of realisation expenses? You might find that remembering the text, which is simply having access to information, will be facilitated by the comfort and confidence that ensues from knowing that you know.

I am also even more curious about what, in terms of metaprograms and VAK Strategies, prompted your request for help in memorizing the text?

remember and go well

Re: Please help me to memorize this text

Hai Michael,
As I mentioned earlier I want to memorize this text for my exams. The exam is for 1hr 30 min. It is an accounting exam. I am supposed to finish it to get my degree. Need to finish 4 sums within that time.
Accounting needs accuracy. I used memory techniques first time in theory papers. I used to get 20/40 but with the memory methods 35/40. But in accountancy I could not use any methods. Journey method, loci etc. were all a failure. They are used for lists which is different from this

Realisation A/c Dr -------------------------------------xxx
To Bank A/c ----------------------------------------------------xxx
(Being payment of expenses of realisation)

cause there are repititions of the same word a lot of times. Correct me if I am wrong it is difficult to memorize this text.

I dont know anything about NLP or VAK or METAPROGRAMS. The only thing I know in NLP is anchoring.

You are absolutely RIGHT in the sense that you believe it to be TRUE and that belief shapes your 'reality'!
So let's start with that belief, which, if you choose to, you can change Right Now.

How so? Well, consider the suggestions that people have offered you. Not 'just' people either; NLPeople who have possibly helped countless people to realise more of their potential, just as you can realise more of your potential by recognising how a limiting belief can affect your confidence, your state of mind, your belief about your ability, your ability to remember, and the likelihood that you can pass the test because you have adequately prepared for it.

Notice in how many delightful ways the suggestions are different from the memory methods that took you from 1/2 to 7/8 success, and you might find sum similarities to help you hold in mind just what you need to answer those 4 question and pass the exam.

The point is to accept but not necessarily believe what anyone here tells you (after all, any one of us might be taking the NLPiss ), but to apply the same questing intelligence that brought you to this forum and that can, because you will allow it to, take you successfully through the exam.

And, as you get to grips with what some people have offered you already, allowing yourself to feel relaxed, and seeing in your mind's eye that you will be ready on the day, ask yourself how many of those ideas can be useful before that day arrives?

go well

Re: Please help me to memorize this text

In the French language , in order to remember which nouns are male and which nouns are female.....you imagine all the male one;s as being with a Circus Strongman.......and all the female nouns as being with a ballet dancer !

When I did Double Entry Book keeping , in Accounts , I used to Imagine all the Debit items in the Doctor's Surgery...........and all the Credit Items in my Granny's Garden......(I couldn't think of anything memorable from CR so I used Gr for Granny....it still worked !
