Model for Non Verbal Thinking
Googling internal dialogue I noticed lots of tutorials on how to shut it off. Maybe I can contribute something to this forum because I don't have an internal dialogue. Don't remember ever having one. I'm new to NLP so I don't know where the best place to start is but I'll start by explaining how I reason since I talked to a couple of people who believed that humans gained the ability to reason as a result of the creation of language.
I suppose I can start with a specific example of something that requires reasoning. I'll start with a controversial subject which I believe requires real reasoning. Drugs. I see the human mind. I see and feel the fact that we can all inhabit a near endless range (not the right word as range is something linear) of mindspace and I see that some people occupy a different mindset to others on a daily basis. This is tricky to describe because I don't just see it, I feel it and I know it. I see that each drug triggers a specific change in physiological processes in a specific person and I see that one drug in one person can change their physiology so that it aligns up with the physiology of another person. I never even thought of this until now but to see represent this physiology concept I see a human body with spots at different points spread all over the body and a drug moves the points. If 2 bodies have points at the same place it means they have the same physiology and disregarding all other variables such as beliefs it means they occupy the same mindspace.
That pretty much sums up my view on drugs. As you can probably derive from that I do not view them as either good or bad, I view them as tools and like fire, electricity and any tool with great power it has the power for both good and bad. The tool itself is neither good or bad, whether it does good or bad is a matter of how its used. That mental image of physiology and drugs is at the core of my views on the matter but theres more to it than that there is information attached to everything. Things I've learned. For example the idea that ones current physiology and mindspace isn't necessarily good or the way it should be is derived from my knowledge of some people being schizophrenic, biologically depressed or suffering from other mental issues. This thread is already getting way too long. Maybe it'd be better if people asked specific questions which they need answered to proceed in their attempts to think non verbally. I'll answer any question to the best of my ability.

If you don't have an internal dialogue, I'm curious - how do you think through what you were going to type here, before you type it?
I ask because everyone I know needs to have an internal dialogue to do that.
Also, how do you read back and check how you come across? Again, I'm curious.
Cheers

For typing and talking I think about the concept I want to communicate then come up with the words to describe it as I go. I observed myself do it just there and noticed that I do word this out in my head. I see the first 4 words then I word them out right before I type them. I don't do this when I'm speaking for some reason I just come out with the words on the spot.
I have to word things out when I'm reading because the words are too monotonous and linear to just look at them and understand them. I have to pay very close attention to this because I have this "silent" internal dialogue when I'm reading, I barely hear the words at all and don't notice them while I'm reading unless I pay close attention then I hear this quiet voice reading out the words. These are the main exceptions to my use of non verbal thinking style, when I have to use words. How I think about what I just said though is I see a load of words scattered throughout the 3D space in front of me and somehow the knowledge that these words are things I use for communicating is attached to this mental image. The words are white and of different sizes. If I make them black I get a bit depressed interestingly enough.
