| So how will I know if I am depressed? Is this just a question to confuse the client and invite them to re-look at their issue from another angle?
or
a supposed 'light-hearted' remark to imply labels are not important, the feelings involved are what we are working with here?
I do feel like crap at the moment but that is not why I am here. I am curious to feel this way and trying to put myself in the therapist and clients chair to experience the rough end of an NLP Session. I remember a session during my prac course where RB was telling us about a session he experienced with a client who struggled to respond to 'How do you know you are depressed' with ' I just feel that way'. Well that is all I can offer in response to the same question. I can think up an analogy of a man sitting opposite his doctor or therapist after being hit with javelin, Doc asks "what can I do to help?", patient "well, remove the javelin, patch up the wound and give me time to heal". There is no answer I can offer to say "to fix me I need to do A followed by B and C will get me back to good".
thanks in advance,
Matt
