Anchoring - Google Earth - My Way of "cheering Up"

Having read the article on anchoring I thought I'd share my anchor.

I have recently gone through losing my job and suffered all the consequential emotions and there have been times when I've needed to cheer myself up..

To do this I think of a place I have visited, normally a holiday, when I had a really enjoyable time. I then find it on Google earth in satellite view and zoom in (if street view is available even better) I then think of what I did on a particular day and retrace that on the map remembering buildings, views, who I was with, what was said, where we eat etc.

    It works for me.

    Hi Alan

Google Earth is great, and it's fun to find somewhere maybe even quite close to where you are now, but somewhere you have never been yet and when you zoom in to this new place and look at all the streets, the beach, the hills and rivers start to imagine how enjoyable it would be to go there, and see everything, all the colours, hear the noises in the street, feel the ground under your feet, smell the scents in the air, maybe it will be different from how you imagined this new place to be and you can begin to wonder who you might meet there, what you might eat there, how much fun it is to do new things and how enjoyable it might be to work and live there.

Indeed, took a trip down the Panama canal the other day, fascinating.

Didn't think must of Acapulco though.
