When Bargain Changework is No Bargain...

Hi All,

I've participated in many discussions about rates and charges for changework or therapy. And, as many people who do this for a living have a real sense of compassion for the people they work with, they often work for little or nothing, even if their clients can afford to pay.

But is this actually detracting from the effectiveness of the treatment?

There is an interesting study on the link between the effectiveness of placebo and the amount charged for the placebo that really brings this out.

Personally, my focus is on beong whatever I need to be for my clients in order to be, for them, the person who can help them to change quickly, easily and powerfully. It seems to me this is one more factor in the equation and it fits in with my own mindset which says 'I owe it to my clients to give them every advantage I can so that they can succeed'.

So, my question for changeworkers might be, 'Are you charging enough to be perceived as being effective?'

Be Well,

Michael Perez
