Future pacing failure

I just recently started studying NLP. Last night I decided to use my wife as a willing guinea pig.

When she feels a loved one is dissappointed in her she goes into mini depression. I want her to not go into depression, but to take the information and improve the situation.

I told her to remember what happens when she feels like someone important is disappointed in her. Basically she goes through visual remembering, then auditory remembering.

The picture she sees is in full color and life size. I told her to push the picture away and change it to black and white. She said it made her feel like laughing (not what I am going for but at least it was kinda working).

So I had her do it over about 5 times. Then I tried to tie that response to her subconsious or consiousness by what i think is called future pacing. I told her to think of the picture, and when she sees the picture in her mind to remember to push it away and take the color out of it. Then she started to cry a little.

I know I did something wrong, but I wasnt sure what? Any help is appreciated.
