Ben Feldman

The best salesman ever. Supposedly Bandler and Grinder modeled him. Anyone know where to get more knowledge about this man's techniques?

Re: Ben Feldman

I do that by not selling enough, therefore not making enough money to buy things I want.

Sounds like that book would pay for itself rather quickly, then.

You are assuming I have the initial investment.

I am also assuming you have the initial investment.

If having the things you want is not important to you then you can continue to not have the things you want.

Maybe your boss will buy the book for your, that is if he thinks you are worth the initial investment.

Thanks

Matt

Re: Ben Feldman

I notice that this book is now out of print and very sought after hence high the price....therefore i think you could purchase this book with the knowedge that when you have finished with it you could probably make most of the money back selling it, if not more?

Hi Tony,

Have you heard of Joe Girard? Known as the World's Greatest Car Salesman.

From the site: www.usadreams.com. "In the twelve years he was selling cars from 1966 to 1977 Girard was the winner of the #1 Car Salesman title each year. Joe sold more retail automobiles for twelve consecutive years on a one-to-one basis than anyone else in the world! All his sales were Retail. One car at a time, no wholesale, lease or fleet sales were included."

There are many many great sales people to model. I've been in sales my adult life - so far - and in my opinion, the major similarities with all great sales professionals is Confidence and Determination.

First, ensure you have those areas covered! (if not, read through this site and others .. free resources galore!) If you feel 100% confident in yourself, and 100% Determined to be successful in your choice, then absolutely nothing can stop you. Then make sure you have the basics down.. even old Zig Ziglar stuff (yes - I actually said Zig Ziglar! ) is helpful to get comfortable with the basics. Then.. the sky is the limit!

With money being an issue, perhaps you could go to a library. Perhaps there is a successful salesperson in your dealership that has a library of sales material that he will lend to you. Maybe in your network there is someone else with massive sales success experience, (in any industry) that they would share. Maybe there is a group of people in similar situations to you - starting out - that you could get together with and share.

Thing is, if you are determined to make it happen, you will find a way to do it.

Success to you!

Elaine

Elaine,
You are quite kind. I am amassing my own library. A good friend of mine has compiled a disc of audio books (Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar, etc) and I am taking time listening to them. I was curious about Feldman because he is supposed to be legendary.

Hey Tony

I would also add Tom Hopkins to that list, he was really good at selling houses and managed to to sell at least one house a day for a year. He was actually a really bad sales person but was luckly enough to get sent on a course which really turned around his ability to sell, so his whole thing is that great sale people are not born they are made. His audio and books are fairly cheap to buy.

Also I would recommend Persuasion Engineering by Richard Bandler and John La Velle

Oh right Kwel,

From my own experience(and yours maybe completely different) with the PE book is that I didn't get it the first time I read it, I think I was expecting more of an intruction manual. so the second time I read I just read it more like a novel and enjoyed the stoires and I got a lot more out of it. I think a few other people on the site have made similar comments in regards to PE.

Just out of curiousty, from the sales people you have studied who do rate?

I like Brian Tracy. He's good. Zig Ziglar seems to be ok as well. I am currently reading "Persuasion" by Dave Lakhani.

While you're at it, then, grab a copy of Unlimited Selling Power by Donald Moine and Kenneth Lloyd.

Re: Ben Feldman

Michael,
I have that one. In fact, I have been listening to the audio version of it lately. That's where I learned to do tag questions. I wish there was more in it about getting people in buying states. What I want to learn to do is to get them pumped up, kind of like Ross Jeffries does for speed seduction, I want to learn to do for sales so that closing is easy.

Where'd you find the audio version? It's difficult to come by.

That's the core of Persuasion Engineering. If you get the chance to attend the live training, do it. Borrow the money if you have to; you'll get it back.
