NLP Open Marketing Ideas

With all the NLPeople in here I was wondering if we can share ideas on marketing strategies used by the pros. Please don't spam or hijack the thread topic!

I'll start with one I've seen people use:

Sell my story strategy:

Examples:

Bandler: When I was developing NLP I done ABC stuff to Schizos etc etc

Jim Rohn: I was a young lad who was broke then I met a man called John Earl Shoaff etc etc

Zig Ziglar: Story about him about to die when he was born etc

Tony Robbins: Then my father walked out and I said never again etc

This doesn't detract from these people skill but I just wanted to look at how they do stuff.

I was thinking what do all these people do in common in their seminars? What's the common theme?

Also forgive my ignorance but I have a question. Is there anyone who has done really well with NLP but isn't a therapist or an NLP trainer?

I had this conversation about marketing with an NLP trainer just yesterday.

I think the common theme with the very succesful trainers I have met, watched, or heard is that they have way above average levels of charisma - which includes a sense of humour. Also credibility stemming from in depth knowledge and experience, genuine passion for what they do and total ownership of how they do it / deliver it - I think it shows when someone is delivering material they didn't create.

As for marketing, the impression I have from what comes through my letter box and into my e-mail account is that the marketing methods are pretty similar to other trainers. Maybe there is something in the content. But I think the key thing is that if you are very very good at what you do and you do it often - even with small numbers initially - your name will grow and sell itself (but even then you need pieces of paper and e-mails so folk know when to buy ).

I suppose I wanted to discuss more than just the marketing strategies.

Whoops, I've hijacked my own thread topic!

These trainers, what is the structure of their delivery?

Humour, stories, movement, boasting?

When do they joke? How do they move? What are the common topics? What states do they use on the audience and themselves?
