You would have probably tried this sort of Amazon search, I guess?
I have read Sue Knight's work and it makes sense to me.

Posts: 875 | | | I think the most important way to use NLP in business is to enhance communication.
Basically you need to know HOW to do your job really, really well. That is, you need to continually work to get better at what you do. You must *minimally* be competent and must keep learning until you are an expert. Even then you can't afford to sit on your laurels, but must be committed to continually learning.
Then, in parallel to developing personal expertise, one can learn to continually enhance one's own communication skills through NLP.
Sometimes folks think NLP is the easy way out of a problem. Well, it can certainly help, but don't kid yourself -- you STILL have to do the work!

Posts: 1,884 | | | In my other job , I am a Goverment Employed , Meat Inspector...examining carcases of Meat , for Diseases and Conditions, that may render them unfit for human consumption...
I have a 100% intolerance for unfit meat carcases or parts of meat carcases that are unfit for human consumption.
Depending on the size of the plant , throughput etc...we may only have a few seconds , to examine each carcase , presented , thoroughly and efficiently.
For the last 10 years , the Government , has been trying to replace us , with Qualified Vets....but none so far , have been able to keep up with fast line systems , or recognise diseases or affective conditions at these speeds .
I was recently challenged , by another Inspector, of reknown , who thought he was a better Inspector than myself.
We set up another Inspector , at the end of the line...who had to shout out , the stamp number , of the Inspector, who missed the most (minor) , conditions (contamination etc)...
He missed 23 , I missed 2 !
My method is simple....if I miss something...that becomes the first thing I look out for, from that carcase onwards.
This erradicates , a weakness or blindness, that has crept in !
Sometimes we become blase , about what we do. In order to be good at anything , we need to recognise our mistakes or weaknesses and turn them into strengths.
Sometimes we have to examine , 144 cattle per hour , 800 pigs per hour ,
800 sheep per hour...or 8,000 chickens per hour !
Obviously there are other Inspectors , there as well, to cover the numbers , but never more than 10 on the line at any one time ! Scary ?
The Vets have proved , that despite their ''Superior'' knowledge...Inspection at these speeds, requires , dedication , observation and many years of practise....
Things that they are not prepared to do ! | | | | Message posted: 27th Feb 06, 06:29 pm

Posts: 344 | | | Corey asked, ''Can any recommend any books that discuss applying NLP in a business setting?''
Sue Knights 'NLP at Work' is excellent for business. My only complaint is that is lacks an index.
Genie Z. Labordes 'Influencing with Integrity' is very good on the whole influencing vs manipulation issues around NLP and using it in business.
More querky but very approachable is 'Lessons with Kumi' by Michael Colgrass. Lots of practical stuff about relating to others and personal presence told as a story.
Interested in Coaching with NLP in a work setting then 'The NLP Coach' by Ian McDermott and Wendy Jago is a very good start.
Cheers

Posts: 1,884 | | | Not directly linked with NLP , is a book called ''How to win friends and influence people'' by Dale Carnegie...a brilliant read ! Best of it's time (all time ?) A lot of the ''tricks'' used in Public Speaking were seen first in this book....which allegedly , had one time sold more copies than the Bible ! | | | | Message posted: 27th Feb 06, 11:09 pm

You can get that from Amazon as well. | | | | Message posted: 2nd Mar 06, 02:52 pm

Posts: 534 | | | It's lots of hyopnosis, language patterns. There's lots of DHE in there - building propulsion systems...yes there is ''the basics'' of NLP in there too - plus advanced stuff for connecting Rep's / Meta Model / Meta programs etc together for success.
Alot of it, to me is about state...about how creative are you willing or are you capable of getting to get your result - and less about the actual ''techniques'' - for example there's no point doing the ''techniques'' if you're frightened of picking up the phone! For me that's where the DHE comes in, building machines so that you wake up and leap out of bed ready to hunt!! hahaha
Inoculate against objections so they never even arise
Lots and lots of DHE here...I love it.
The book though just scratches the surface...
If you want to make an excellent investment of $395
BUY THE DVD'S!!
Then you can immerse yourself in 13 hours of Richard & John!

Posts: 1,884 | | | Yeah , we used to call that part closing James...i.e. You know what the Objection , is going to be at the end...so you close it up as you go !
We used to part close , at every single selling point of the item...and use closing techniques/ choices at the end of the presentation , to get the sale.
By closing as you go...there are no objections at the end...if you have done your job right ! | | | | Message posted: 14th Apr 06, 05:48 pm

Posts: 46 | | | Re: Books on applying NLP to business What about " NLP in Business" by Peter Freeth? Oh, that's me! It has a whole section on coaching in it, plus sales, leadership, presenting, and of course all applications of NLP in Business which I have created whilst practicing NLP in real business (not just talking about it or training but actually inside businesses) over the past 15 years. | | | | Message posted: 24th Nov 07, 10:51 am

Can any recommend any books that discuss applying NLP in a business setting?
| Hi Corey
You might like to check out my list of book reviews here: Honest Abe's NLP Book Reviews
You don't mention your level of experience, so in case you are fairly new to NLP (or NLP is fairly new to you) I would point out that as well as the lists of ALL book reviews, one by author and one by title, there is also a list of intro books listed by area of specialiy - including "business" - or under the heading "General".
Hope this is of use
Be well
