Training to Be a Coach - NLP Recommendations?

Hi,

I've joined the NLP Community this evening - just found it on a Google Search !

I'm in the middle of my training with Noble Manhattan (Life Coach Training Programme).

I've just started to look into NLP as a way to assist in my training / coaching practice. It looks like a fascinating area !

I guess mamny fellow members are "experts" , so I have a couple of questions

- Which NLP Audio Programme would you recommend as an introduction ?

- Which NLP book would you recommend?

Any advice appreciated !!

Cheers,
-

Justin, there's a great audio program called "Better Coaching Skills With NLP", which you can find here - Salad ltd, NLP training and products. It's a recording of an introduction to NLP day for coaches, and makes a good general introduction to the subject.

Richard Bandler's Guide to Trance-Formation (just published, and discussed elsewhere on the forum) might be a good place to start reading. It introduces a lot of basic NLP concepts as taught by one of the founders.

NLP - the New Technology of Achievement might also be a good early read for covering some basic concepts. Early and seminal works in the field like Frogs Into Princes, Using Your Brain for a Change, Change Your Mind and Keep the Change, An Insider's Guide to Submodalities, Trance-Formations (the original)and Time for a Change will, in my opinion, also reward you with amazing insights, though all are out of print. I've found many of them on Amazon for reasonable prices, and others at abebooks.com.

Dive in and have lots of fun.

Bridget,

Many thanks for taking the time to give me so many recommendations !

I'll definitely try the salad audio and a couple of the Richard Bandler books

I'll let you know how I get on :-)

I also highly recommend Coaching Mastery.

But then I would, since I am organising it.

Hi Justin and welcome to NLP Connections.

One of the best books I've come across which would give you a good sense of how NLP and coaching can be combined is Angus McLeod's 'Performance Coaching'. You can also find a list of books specifically related to coaching and a good complement to NLP here: ABL World Book recommendations

Cheers

John

Hi ,

Many thanks to all who have taken the time to make NLP / Coaching recommendations !

Very much appreciated.

I ordered the Salad Coaching Cards last week (thanks to nlp_seo for the link - backs up my decision to purchase them !!) and an NLP Book. I think the next stage would be an NLP course, once I have "fired up" the knowledge and interest !

Cheers, Justin
