Overview:
Family/Group Intervention is an objective and caring, unequivocal, non-judgmental process by which a substance abuser is confronted with the reality of his/her actions by those who are adversely affected by them with the objective of motivating the substance abuser to seek help.
An addiction Intervention is a group process to motivate an addicted individual to enter a treatment program for the disease of alcoholism or drug addiction.

Dictionary Definition of Intervention?
Webster's Dictionary defines "intervene" as "to come between as an influencing force, as in order to modify, settle, or hinder some action, argument, etc." Doubleday Dictionary adds, "to come between by action or authority; interfere or mediate."
