    Introduction

    Hello -

I've just joined this website yesterday. My interest in NLP stems from a place of becoming a better parent to my 7 year old son and I wanted to surround myself with others of similar NLP mind in order to learn.

My partner Bryan first introduced me to NLP about 1.5 years ago and I have just started to dig a little deeper so that I can utilize more tools, strategies and choices in my close relationships. Currently, I am reading Introducing NLP by Joseph O'Connor and John Seymour and when that's complete I intend on reading more and more on NLP.

Bryan and I attend a monthly parenting session at my son's previous alternative school, wondertree.ca, which was started by Brent Cameron 25 years ago and operates from the principals of NLP.

Already, I am noticing improvements in my life since I have begun to operate from a more resourceful state and I am thristy for knowledge and know how. I am looking for other parents and professionals that utlize NLP in their personal and professional relationships.

    Thank you,
    Sandra

    Re: Introduction

Sandra, I think the idea of a school founded on NLP principles is about the coolest thing I've heard in a long time.

    Re: Introduction

    Hi Sandra

Welcome - there is lots of information here. I agree with Bridget its a great idea.
Thanks for telling us about Wondertree.

Seems to me that so much good can happen when an attitude of wonder, curiosity and exploration is embraced.

I recently gave a talk at a school about being an artist and my attitude to life. So of course I used and talked NLP with them. 60% of the class had come to the school because they 'were too much for the normal education stream'. At the beginning of my session with them they were silent and sullen, 20% were hiding in their hoodies - so no eye contact at all. I was thrilled because by half way through they were all engaging and laughing! One of my best days ever.

    Thank you Carol and Bridget.

I agree, it's a wonderful school and I am just now reading Brent's thesis whereas Bateson, Bukminster Fuller, John Grinder and Richard Bandler get referenced a fair bit. Wondertree receives half their funding from the ministry of education and the other half private tuition. My partner and I are still invested in the community, however, the tuition cost become an issue and so my son is now attending a publicly funded democratically run school called Windsor House. There are some parellels between the schools and one day when my financials are aligned more I intend on my son attending Wondertree again.

I intend on trolling around the site and surely will come across some useful nuggets of info

Carol - that's fantastic to hear of how you managed to engage the class with the mere use of language - it fills me with excitement to finally have the tools that allows me to connect with humans on such a higher level.

    Kind regards,

    Sandra

p.s can either of you offer any insight on how one were to upload a picture onto their profile?
