NLP Writer's Big "HELLO" -
NLP Writer's Big "HELLO" Hi all!
I thought I'd take a few moments to say "hi". I'm going to be posting on this site from time to time, so I guess the easiest thing to do is to just tell you about who I am, what I do, my skills base and interest. Then my posts might well make a little more sense.
My name is Matt Wingett. Many years ago I was a professional writer, putting together episodes of Thames TV's "The Bill" for a living. Well, since Thames TV doesn't exist any more, you can probably tell that I haven't written for those guys for a long time.
Why? Well, truth to tell: I had writer's block. It was horrendous. So I set up loads of other business - computing, teaching English etc, and finally settled on rare book dealing. I am, by the way, an expert in early printed books, as it turns out.
However, an event at an antiquarian bookfair made me realise that unless I did something soon to change my life, I would end up being another long-haired, miserable, sandal-wearing beardy git, like the other dealers there. And that was just the women!
Last year I sold my stock at auction and booked on to a Prac course with Paul McKenna and this guy I'd never heard of called Richard Bandler. On my 40th birthday, I was looking at a technique Paul was teaching and asked if it could be used for creativity. "I've been blocked for 13 years, and it's a f***ing nightmare," I told him. (Are the stars necessary? Don't know the rules on swearing on this forum!)
After that session, I found I could write again. It was amazing. I have just written a novel, I am writing advertising copy for different NLP and media companies, and am the editor of the NLP LIFE TRAINING Newsletter.
- Paul said he would change my life.
- He did!
I am offering writing services, website "pull throughs" to tidy up sites - all sorts of writing jobs. Got a task you need doing? Then let me know.!
There, that's the shameless advertising over.
Finally, once more - a big "HELLO" from me... Matt Wingett's the name.
Writing's the game.
See you! -
Re: NLP Writer's Big "HELLO" Welcome, Matt - there are a few writer-types lurking about here, and any number of people who know all 26 letters. And we're all nominal adults, so cursing, effing and blinding are mostly self-regulated.
Hope you have fun here! -
Re: NLP Writer's Big "HELLO" Hi Matt, I'm one of them there writer types. Wrote an episode of The Bill last year as it happens, as part of a scheme: my script wasn't accepted (only 2 out of 14 were). Learned and enjoyed lots though. Right now, waiting to hear how a producer has got on touting some of my feature treatments in Cannes... -
Re: NLP Writer's Big "HELLO" Welcome Matt!
You'll have fun here :-)
I like writing too - not the professional script-type stuff mind - but I like writing words that sell good things.
...what do you like writing about most?

Hi there, thanks for the replies from all of you - and many apologies for the delay in replying - have been away.
Well, guys and gals, if you like writing, then please do let me know if you have an idea for a NLP article for the NLP LIFE newsletter, you are welcome.
As for what I "enjoy writing about" - well, that's a strange question, somehow. I don't know why, but it feels like it starts at the wrong end. If an idea is good, then I will write about it. But I don't go in from the other end... Actually, no, clowns. I only like writing about clowns...
If it's not clowns, I won't do it.
Just kidding. Like I say, anything that has a good idea behind it - that is what I like writing about.
See you,
Matthew Wingett
