Can NLP Help with Stress? What about conception?

    Hello everyone,

I now very little about NLP and would like to learn more. I've been suffering from depression for some time- following an unsucessful In vitro fertilization attempt- and am currently taking antidepressants -but I know that it somehow is "all in the mind"...

I've had 3 major traumas in my life, which, in combination to my sensitive nervous system- and stomach!- had lead me to drug and alcohol abuse in the past.

I would like to ask if NLP could help me achieve my goals which are to get rid of the pills and gain more self control and overal piece of mind and eventually get pregnant - or fing the courage to adopt a child. Are there anh people who've turned to NLP for similar reasons?

My motto has always been "seven times down, eight times up"

    Cheers,

    Chryshanthi

I'm sure that a skilled therapist using NLP could help--given what you have said. I suggest seeking one out.

In my opinion this would be a better path than seeking training in NLP and trying to treat yourself.

Agree with Greg here, and Chrysanthi (phenomenal name) can you explain what exactly you mean by "seven times down eight times up"?

What was it that lead you to agreeing to whatever it is this means, and, looking over the years, has it been useful to you?

And while you are finding a skilled nlp therapist, I would also think about finding a skilled acupuncturist.

Have a read of this article:

    Acupuncture and Preganancy

If you need any more information I would be happy to forward. I am Director of one of the Centre's featured in the article and have witnessed these cases firsthand, amongst many other cases that fill one with positive wonder.

    Sunshine and smiles

Re: Can NLP Help with Depression?

Thank you all for your suggestions-comments. I'll be attending an NLP senimar soon so I might look for a therapist there. As for acupuncture, yes, I've tried it and loved it- had i had more money, I'd do it alot more often. Still, i may consider it more seriously as a way to help me conceive- there seems to be no apparent problem for both my husband or myself. We'll see ( thx Andy!)

Life is beautiful, all its shortcomings included, so everytime there's a downfall always be ready to bounce back. Ultimatelly, the 'seven times down, eight times up ' motto is all about survival...

    Take care

    Hi Chrysanthi

Love the moto but I think the numbers are a bit low and it's not about survival it's a moto for learning (IMO).

Nice to someone from nearby as well, I spend about half the year in Kranidi at the moment but looking to do more.

For me it is a requirement that life has shortcomings for it to be beautiful. Where does personal growth come from otherwise?

Realising that most of what goes on is in my mind was amazingly empowering for me. I have the wherewithal to change it and do not have to rely on someone else to make me feel good.

Re: Can NLP Help with Depression?

    Chrys,

Hi, once people realise that the external environment cannot control our internal feeling unless we decide for that to happen then depression, anger management issues, self esteem issues etc will soon cease to exist.

Controling your internal state regardless of external pressures is a great skill but certianly one that can be achieved with practice. This is certainly true when so much of our daily lives and behaviour is made up from patterns and cycles of behaviour that were created by chance and with little conscious input.

Holding yourself back from donig what you want to do because of past or potential future problems is an awful waste. It would be like a daffodil deciding not to flower because the winter before was too cold or because the flower may not last more than a few days. If we take away the daffodils reason for existing then it too would not want to live on! But as we know, those few days of flowering is the most beautiful and is worth all the hard work, ultimatly it is those moments of glory which is the reason for living.

What is your reason for living?

When you close your eyes and picture the most perfect future, what is happeing in that picture?

What choices do you have to make today to make that perfect future a reality?

    Thanks

    Matt

    Hi Chrysanthi,

If you ask can NLP do X in most instances the answer will always be Yes.

A better question to ask is does anyone on the forum know how to do X using the technology of NLP?

Which I have no doubt will generate loads of answers and advice from the very helpful people who post here.
