    Hello Bebe

I live in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
    Where are you from?
I am not surprised you miss it, especially with the cold weather over there this winter!

Hi Viv! Thanks for saying hi.

What's your perspective on all this?

I've noticed a lot of "intelligence wars" (who can prove themselves to be most clever).

Hey Bebe - all of this? What - NLP? Forums?

If we're talking NLP, I think there's a lot of cock fighting and talk of NLp, but I prefer people who do NLP as well as tlak aobut it....

    Hi Bebe

Im another newbie - joined yesterday and still finding my way around the site

I have found the NLPers I know personally are all lovely caring people who are willing to help others and share information, I presume it will be the same here

    Re: Bebe from OZ

Oh i see, well, in my expereince, here is just a slice of out there... I've met some lvoely people, had some fascinating conversations and generally been really impressed. I've also been flamed brutily and come acorss small pockets of surprisingly inflexibilty.... but then I like discussing controversial subjects sometimes, so what can I expect....

anyhows lovely to meet you.... I studied NLP from Terry and hear you're working with him so i wish u all the best best and hope you like brighton....

    Re: Bebe from OZ

Not only that but NLP is just a slice of what is out there.

What I find amusing is that, because I communicate with a wide range of different people, I'm also communicating with many, many different approaches to change/guidance/therapy/healing (etc). Quite a few of the people I come across who are not into NLP but something else, like to flame NLP and often mention that NLPers are arrogant, cold, narrow minded etc. I have surely met some people who are like this and I have met a great deal of people who are just amazing.

Viv, I do the odd few things with Terry but I run a seperate business, which promotes Trainers, Therapists and Coaches. One of the reasons I do this is because of what I mentioned earlier. There are so many different approaches and each person has a particular view on what kind of trainer, therapist or coach fits their world.

    Re: Bebe from OZ

Yes, there's inflexibility towards different approaches from holistic people and everyone else. I've met some therapists who say their way is the best, and fewer people who say that whatever works, works... there are thoe who are always interested in new ideas and others who once they find some new ideas they like create a new filter that rejects all new ideas except those that will already fir in with their old ones....

I did biochemistry at uni and everything had to be prooveable with a double blind test and meta studies. Now I think that whether you say god, or quantum mechanics doesn't matter to me, I have an idea of what you're talking about.

But, we've all got something that we think is nonsense right - what's yours?

I'm a bit of a "man of the word", so if you were to ask me what I think is nonsense, I would naturally answer, "things that don't make sense". Obviously this is different for everyone because some things that make sense to some, don't to others.

For me, personally, my underlying philosophy is that "we know little". And I truly believe that by accepting that and believing that, we can learn so much more. It's those who profess to know so much (and sometimes as a result refuse to learn), who are missing out.

I'm a complete hippi at heart and almost a tree hugger at that, but still logic rules in my view of the world. If it isn't logical, then I don't often believe it.

    Re: Bebe from OZ

I come from an engineering background and have only recently qualified in hypnosis and NLP - therefore, there is still a tester in me who wants to prove things but I like to think that I am flexible and open to new ideas

I will have to be a bit more confident on here before I will be "controversal". Sometimes being controversal promotes a good discussion and opens up new possibilities/options.

Re. "we know little". My favourite quotation is "a wise man knows he knows nothing" - I think that also applies to women

haha, hello fellow logical people and scientists.... sometimes now I test ideas with my science head on and sometimes I realise I can't.... when I think about energy medicine ideas, I have to rationalise it, because despite having hippy tendancies, it's not enough for me to say 'it just is'. I want to know how things work AND why they work... and the all important one of if they work.... give me all 3 and I'm a happy bunny

    Re: Bebe from OZ

    Viv

I agree - if we know how things work then we can explore other ways to use the ideas/techniques and be creative. I do find it hard when told just how to do something without understanding why. Maybe I need to trust more and analyse less but then I wouldnt be me
