Hi -
Hi Hi,
I'm new to this, don't know anything about NLP, but I am keen to learn.
First thing I need to know is ...
If I am going to spend time (and probably not an insignificant amount of money) working through NLP training, how do you get accreditation and who pays any attention to it? -
Clive,
In the UK there is no overall governing body, that accredits NLP courses.
There are lots of associations and societies like ANLP, SNLP, ABNLP BBNLP (you get the picture) some talk about CPD etc... some do not. All are happy to take your money
Before you spend cash on training courses buy a couple of secondhand books and read about the subject.
Three NLP books that I love and recommend are:
Users Manual for the Brain Vol I - Hall, Bodenhamer
Insiders Guide to Submodalities - McDonald, Bandler
Using Your Brain for a Change - Bandler, Grinder
My Fave hypnosis Books are::
Training Trances - Overdurf, Silverthorne
Tranceformations - Bandler, Grinder
There is as far as I know only one training establishment in the UK that can offer NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner that is awarded NVQ Level 3 & 4 by the NCFE and accredited through the QCA.

Re: Hi Thanks Jason, you have confirmed the impression that I was getting, which is that the whole area is rich territory for snake-oil merchants!
I've ordered a couple of basic books so I'll have a read of those and follow up with your suggestions.
You mentioned a training organisation but gave no name, while I will (should I decide to take it that far) look at certification with one of the associations, linking it in to something like NVQ feels more solid to me. -

I think that the different organisations mean well and are working towards a standard framework but are individually building empires and not pulling together on this. Hovever as a Counsellor there is more than one body there as well we have the BACP, UKCP etc..
I am sure that at some point things will settle down....
I PM'ed you the training organisations details. | |
