The Meaning of Life - what is it?

You know while we're dealing with the simple topics tonight, I thought I'd leave you with one final thing.

Graham Hancock, who studies the sphix says that there's documents under thesphix that could give us information pertaining to the meaning of life back to the beginning of the 'gods', probably spiritual in nature.

Ironically we dont know how they built the pyramids he says, we've ruled out the sand ramps.

So, if it was found, would anyone listen, to me now, I say that the media probably wouldn't distribute the discovery anyway, seeing as how the dead seas scrolls found all sorts of information about Jesus that no one seems to talk about.

If we do go somewhere after we die, then life must have a purpose. Is it to grow?

What is the meaning of life? More importantly, if you answer, why? Look at it from god's position.

Michio Kaku says there's probably 11 dimensions at least. He says a carp only lives in two dimenions unaware of our human 3 dimenions.

    Hi Sam

I would say whatever meaning you, as a sentient being, attach to it!

You are looking at it from god's position! So now just fill in the blanks..

He can talk to Carp about dimensions? Maybe the one I was talking to was just a bit slow then..

    Have you read "Flatland"?

Before we even begin to consider answering this question, it might be useful to define "meaning"?

What is the meaning of (the term) meaning?

    Perhaps it's...

You beat me to it Phil.

"Here and Now" as the birds say in "Island" by Aldious Huxley.

Once you stop living in the future or the past then a search for meaning becomes meaningless.

I recomend "The Art of being" by Jamie Smart for more suggestions on how to be here and Now.

John...I don't know. Yet. And I'm not sure I want to. I'm pretty sure I don't need to.

Hang on...I think I have to step out of this moment to answer, and I don't feel like bothering...

    Now my brain just crashed!

Though I suppose it would end up looking something like this:

    Now.

    -T
(who still has some difficulty with the question of the meaning of life, without really clarifying what "meaning" defines... It's it purpose? The effect? The cause? The expectation? The intention? The overall shape of it all?)

Re: The Meaning of Life - what is it?

    Sam,

Yes, I'd say that's it on the personal level. I think your thinking is alignment with Viktor Frankl. However, to me, there is a much bigger picture we all fit inside of here -- within the limits of time and space -- and without.

And, of course, that's something we can only guess at. The only thing we can change is the here and now.

    Peace, Love and Turil's Bicycles!

By asking the question “What is the meaning of Life” you are presupposing it has one.

    John

It has been scientifically discovered that life is sexually transmitted
