What Are Inverse Meta Model Patterns

Can anyone kindly explain what are Inverse Meta Model Patterns? I have tried to find a pithy example of this description/label, but to no avail.

Thanks for any help offered.

Sue

I would like to know what is meant by that too..

Is it a question that makes something less specific rather than more?

Along the lines of "what could also be included in X?"

Just guessing.. I don't know what the term means officially in NLP jargon..

Re: What Are Inverse Meta Model Patterns

In Patterns of the Hypnotic Techniques of Milton H. Erkickson, M.D., Bandler and Grinder say on p. 77:

This inverse Meta-model we have lovingly named the "Milton model."

So, I guess that "Milton Model" and "Inverse Meta-Model" are synonymous, then?

Cheers,

Phil

I was curious too, nice going Phil, Thanks.

In the immortal words of Samuel. L. Jackson...Check out the big brain on Phil... love that line. Side note, the names have been changed to protect the not conscientious.

Have a great day

Frederic

Re: What Are Inverse Meta Model Patterns

The Inverse Meta Model patterns are part of the Milton Model but there is more to the Milton Model than just that - for example, the indirect elicitation patterns.

Basically the Inverse Meta Model patterns are about you - as 'coach' / influencer - using forms such as nominalisation and complex equivalence rather than 'challenging' them, for the purpose of influencing the listener's state / model.

Cheers

Wow, what wonderful thoughts on this bit of jargon. Thanks so much, will now go away and try to make comon-sense sense of it and sort out in head and body.

Cheers
