    Discovered the Wheel?

    I have just posted a thread in reviews called "what every body is saying". Yesterday i responded to Philip's magical post on synchronisity. I am also active in the "No news is good news" thread where the debate on the negative media and its effects rages on! And most recently i see the threads "A or F" and the possiblities of the "self full-filling prophecy" on students followed by a mother and daughter thread about attention seeking bad behaviour from a daughter and how best to respond. I see a universal theme here and i would urge some to follow up on these most recent threads and affirm or dismiss my lateral thinking with any comments welcome.!
    So the question, if i am able to grasp it, that we seem to be asking is a polarized one and a binary one. In my "what every body is saying" thread i mention yes/no signals and toward/away from signals/behaviour. Can anyone confirm if this is only a current theme here and if iam justified in making these connections in this way. Did anyone else see this theme or did i discover the wheel?
    so to summarize...What every body is saying?...the power of negative/positive media...the power of positive/negative influences on students...and the power of positive/negative parenting?
    Anyone else with me on this one?

    I think B.F Skinner noticed it a long time ago...

    Ps. I would say the student study has more to do with priming than it does with positive/negative reinforcement

    @Alistair

    Thank you as that was an unexpected tangent in many ways. Obviously there are the points made about noticing current threads had this positive/negative theme and the connection to Skinner's ideas. More interestingly for me was the idea of superstition(synchronous?) that Derren Brown played with in one of his shows. Random acts as reenforcing behaviour as seen with Skinner's pigeons and Derren's poor guests. I would argue that when synchronous observations are made consciously and in the pursuit of collecting data this is not superstition but serendipity. Surely this is how the internet age gleans wisdom in our hyperlinked age. Not sure i am making myself too clear so will have to spend a little longer with this new information and apply it.
    I have included a link that includes both behavioural ideas and the pidgeon experiments...
