I About Passed Out
I will start this by saying, " I am not anywhere as experianced as most of you and when it comes to NLP I am like a child with a new toy that I can't get enough of."
Yesterday for the first time I actualy "Used" NLP in a "real life" situation. I had been having some communication problems with my boss. So, I broke open my books a few weeks ago and began reminding my self of things forgotten. ( You don't use it you loose it) A couple days ago It dawned on me. " Bill is a tword/options/Global and you are Tword/Detail/Proactive No wonder you two don't understand each other!" So yesterday I went into his office to discuss a project that we both have been wanting to get off the ground for about 9 months now. I focused very close to his speech patterns and slowly began carefuly mirroring him verbaly and physicly. HOLY COW It was like the clouds parted and the angels began to sing. Once I began to explain my concerns about getting the project started.... You could see it in his tone of voice, body language, the manner in which he spoke to me. It was as if instantly it went from Boss to employee to we were peers.
Results: Found out today. Project kick off meeting with all terminal managers involved is in a week and a half.

That's great news! Well done. Can you tell me a bit more about that, I would be interested to learn more about your success and how you did it.

Lloyd I am a bit imbarassed to admit it, but I am not realy qualified to give ANYONE advice on the proper use of NLP. I am SOOOOO new I don't qualify for newbie status yet. LoL If you are interested I would suggest you pose that question to one of the members more qualified to explain than me.

Hey, no need for jargon. Just let me know what you think happened, in plain English. What you did was persuasive, and there may be something to be shared in that.

Good for you! Using the language of someone's metaprograms in a given context gets you something even better than rapport - a sense that you see the world the same way they do. When you've got that, you can begin to insert your position, but couched in their metaprogram language. Fun, huh?

All I did was vaguely mirrored his Posture, speach patterns and language usage. Ther is a fine line between mimicry and mirroring.

Sweet man. You did a great job then. Well done.
You must have felt really good about the outcome. I remember I became very motivated after my first small successes.
-
And isn't it nice to know that those small successes can quickly build on experience into bigger ones..........
Keep up the good work!
Enjoy
