Barack Obama, Adolf Hitler, Billy Graham, and Ronald Reagan all have very similar and almost exactly the same hand movements when they are speaking in public. They all use the art of Neural Linguistic Programming (NLP) to speak more effectively in public. Obama, Hitler, Graham, and Reagan also use body language that effetely emphasizes the hand movements.

Neural Linguistic programming is a type of Psychology used for counseling and also used for leadership training. Obama, Hitler, Graham, and Reagan also have very similar voice tone emphasizes to make their hand movements more effective in public speaking. Overall Obama, Hitler, Graham, and Reagan use NLP hand movements to speak more effectively in public, debates, or in any personal interaction.

Obama, Hitler, Graham, and Reagan all use similar hand movements when public speaking. More recently Obama as seen on the Late Show is a wonderful example of using hand movements to emphasize his messages. As seen in the interview he is predominantly right handed when it comes to his movements. He effectively demonstrates emphasis of a subject by pointing out to the audience when he is referring to America.

He is also very careful to point towards himself when talking about himself or something that would be considered positive to the American people. He also points away from himself when talking about negative subjects, or when describing problems going on he almost always points away from himself. Hitler, Graham, and Reagan also used this technique of point away from or towards self to emphasis ideas or points in public speaking situations.

Billy Graham is also a master of using hand technique to effectively deliver his message. Graham also points out towards the crowd away from himself when referring to negative subjects. This technique makes Mr. Graham look better and shifts all negativity away from him.

Around 20 seconds in to the video is a good example of this. Obama, Hitler, and Reagan also used this particular technique very effectively.

Hitler also used this technique very well in his speeches.

Another good example of this technique put to practice. (For a good example look at the video 1 min in for 30 seconds) He also predominantly uses his right hand like Obama when using these speech inflections to emphasize points in his speech or conversation combined with hand gestures. Reagan and Graham are also masters at this craft of speech inflections to emphasis points.

Obama, Hitler, Graham, and Reagan also use body language in conjunction with these other hand movement and speech techniques. This also part of the neural linguistic programming (NLP) technique of influence that all three individuals use effectively. Reagan used body language when speaking to large crowds or even just in a one on one interview as seen. Regan was even more superior to voice inflection and control then Hitler. Look for superior body language control overall in this video. This is probably because of his days in Hollywood as an actor.

Reagan would effectively use his whole body in combination with the hand movements and speech inflections to successfully deliver his message. This technique is extremely important for being an effective leader.

The article is complete tosh! NLP is simply a set of definitions that describe what people have been doing for hundreds of years – they are therefore not using “the art of Neural Linguistic Programming (NLP) to speak more effectively”, but simply speaking effectively.

Moreover, since gesture and body language developed in humans before speech, it would be more accurate to say that they use words to make their hand gestures more effective.

Overall Obama, Hitler, Graham, and Reagan effectively used neural linguistic programming (NLP) techniques of hand movements, speech inflection, and body language to get their messages across.

Hand movements, speech inflection, and body language are not NLP techniques, they are public speaking techniques whose impact is better understood thanks to the work done in developing NLP.

Have just watched a couple of Grahams youtubes and his hand gestures. I find just as many or more examples contradicting your point that with positive points he points to himself and with negative points he gestures away. To me, not knowing this person and having no previous opinion on his speech and movement style,: He just places great emphasize on the word YOU a lot and combines this with a pointing finger toward the audience...

I probably can find this behaviour in many TV dominees preaching...

I think this is an interesting example of the "hidden dagger" technique.

As several people have already pointed out, the article itself is pretty vacuous, and was hardly written by anyone with much knowledge of the authentic FoNLP since they can't even get the name right, and apparently believe that hand gestures and body language a la Alan Pease is an element of "NLP".

I wonder where this came from?

Here is a possibility:

Prior to the last US elections a lengthy piece appeared on the Internet which tried to tie Obama in with mass hypnosis and "NLP". Part of that article, which looked very much like a smear piece on behalf of the Republicans, also rambled on about Obama's hand movements and body language, as though he were casting spells on his audiences with secret occult gestures.

This - if my guess is correct - looks to be a little more sophisticated.

I'd guess that any "good Republican" would automatically filter out Billy Graham and Ronald Reagan, leaving only Obama and Hitler.
