Here We Are, Finally, on Election Day/night...

Some of the polls here will begin closing in about an hour or so.

Thus begins a multi-hour period of what will be some of the most heavily watched news programs in television history (at least, here, anyway). I suspect the morning news shows in the UK & Europe tomorrow will also get high viewership.

Many Americans will be sitting at home or visiting with friends, watching the news from 6pm through midnight tonight (in our timezones) in fascination to see what they might be able to expect for/from their government over the next 4-8 years. They'll be watching & listening through the distorted filters of either liberal or conservative news media outlets.

News media channel programmers well know the impact they can have on an election -- studies have been done over the effect Peter Jennings had on elections, amongst others -- and will try to walk the fine line between influencing people, and sounding ethical & fair.

Both the liberal and conservative media will be guilty of these subtle (or not so subtle) distortions. But if you choose to watch & listen to the news tonight, I encourage you to listen with a heightened attention to detail -- call upon all of your NLP training such as it is or may be -- to highlight for you every subtle form of influence that is not based on fact.

I'm neck deep in writing an article on this in more detail for my newsletter which I'll hopefully finish & send out later tonight or tomorrow morning (you're welcome to subscribe if you want to know more of my views on this).

But in the meantime -- good luck to us all in the coming years. I think we're going to need it.

Hopefully Americans will redeem themselves in the eyes of the world. Regardless of what various factors have caused our decline in public perception overseas (and part of my view on the matter is that this is not as simple an issue as many would all wish it could be), many American citizens do want to improve our global positioning and global public perception.

So -- to each of you who feel similarly, I wish us all the successful "turning point" many of us crave.

Regards & good luck to all of us...

(To help unpack political beliefs & belief systems, I'm aiming to do my part, as I'm finally releasing the "Belief Craft" seminar audio-set this week).
