Spiral Dynamics/AQAL/Spiral Growth/Maslow's Hierarchy Test for You!

Only tangentially related to NLP (though I'd like it to be moreso, which is something that you folks might be able to help me with...) I created a Spiral Growth Test on the dating/match-making website OKCupid. (Anyone can take the test, regardless of whether or not you are a member of OKCupid.) It's based on my own Spiral Growth Theory, which itself is based on Spiral Dynamics, Ken Wilber's AQAL/Integral theory, Elizabet Sahtouris' cycle of life (biology) theory, and Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.

The Spiraling Upwards Test

It's still in Beta mode, really, but it's a reasonable start, and kind of fun to play with. It's absolutely not accurate as a professional assessment of your developmental level (that's something that would need a human touch, or at least a more flexible scoring metric than the one OKCupid offers), but it's a simple way to see what sort of levels/needs at least stand out for you right now.

Feedback of all useful sorts is very welcome! Especially any glaring negative hypnotic language that everyone would be better of without. And, if you're familiar with SD, AQAL, etc. and have comments on the assessment of the levels of those, I'd love to hear it. My theory needs some real peer review! :-)

Peace, Love, and Bicycles,
Turil

Stage 8 - The Creative Leader Ooooh, you're clever!

Excellent work! You're ready to lead folks in some grand undertaking that's likely to really make the world a far better place. Pick your team and go for it! The world needs you right now, more than ever.

This level would be considered Spiral Dynamics' Yellow stage, and Ken Wilber's Teal stage of development.

On Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, this is the first part of the Transcendent/Self-Actualization stage.

This is Stage 8 - Creativity in The Wise Turtle's Spiral Growth theory of development.

Thanks for that test Turil. It was fun and everything seemed to work OK.

Thanks Turil that is kind of cool.
and.. having been through an unwise period recently - I feel affirmed again!

Stage 9 - The Wise Soul

You're rising above the mess to take a look at the big picture of life...
You're starting to find out who you are deep down inside, and discovering that you're beautiful, good, and true all the way to the core. You're tying up loose ends and patching holes left over from old baggage that you're letting go of, and filling in your life with some extraordinary things, aren't you? You've got more work to do in your life, but it's work that you love and that you're truly looking forward to.
This level would be considered Spiral Dynamics' and Ken Wilber's Turquoise stage of development.
On Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, this is the second part of the Transcendent/Self-Actualization stage.
This is Stage 9 - Personal Wisdom in The Wise Turtle's Spiral Growth theory of development.

Comments - regarding the questions:

3. Lately I've been most concerned with:
and the wording is different for the answers - starts with 'not having.. not feeling..' then goes to wanting, and finding.. etc', then to 'not being....'

Is that intentional?

Wonder if responses are different with the statement worded
"Not knowing what direction I want to go in life"
and
"wanting to know what direction I want to go in life"

It is intentional (though some of it was not entirely conscious, so thanks for pointing it out to me!). The first set of (four) stages are what Maslow refers to as "deficiency needs". I call them "survival needs". They are the stages that we go through just to stay alive, where our basic sustenance needs are sought,. Survival needs, for the most part, are externally given, as they are not something we are born with. Thus the "not having" wording. And then the next set of stages are the "success" stages, where most of the resources are at least partially found from within. Knowing and feeling start to play a more crucial role in our motivations. And then we transcend into Maslow's "being needs" stages where nearly all of our motivations and needs are satisfied from within.

Glad you enjoyed it, too!

Peace, love, and bicycles,
Turil

I'd love to the test, I really do. What I don't want to do is sign up for anything or give out my mailaddress to pages like that.

Damian, just take the test without registering, as I said, you don't have to be a member to take it.

(Or realize that it's ok to let people know who you are. :-)

Peace, love, and bicycles,

Whoops! I see that I didn't mention that in the first place! I meant to. so yeah, the test is free and open to anyone to take, not just registered members.

Or, maybe I did mention it! OK, I'll go do something useful elsewhere now, instead of talking to myself here. :-)

I tried but I didn't get any results? Maybe I missed something, I'll try again.

I'm really into Spiral Dynamics.

I think Chris Howard teaches some of it in his Master Prac course.

Aha!

I entered my gender and that's what made it want me to register.

Stage 6 - The Success

You've got the skills, either mad skills, or at least the skills to pay the bills.
You're on your way to doing something big, aren't you? Something special, that most folks wouldn't be able to do. But you've got some kind of solid purpose and are heading somewhere important with your life. Congratulations. All your hard work is finally starting to pay off!

This level would be considered Spiral Dynamics' and Ken Wilber's Orange stage of development.

On Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, this is the second half of the Knowledge and Understanding needs stage.

This is Stage 6 - Uniqueness in The Wise Turtle's Spiral Growth theory of development.
