    Dear All,

I have chosen this enduring personal favourite in support of this comment

    Alistair Donnell wrote:-

For me it would be ethical for everyone to initially remove the pound signs from their eyes.
from another thread regarding one way NLP might begin to reassert itself as a credible methodology for changework in the wider world.

Whatever you make of the music, the sentiment is one with which I agree entirely.

Ace! Although I think that may fall on deaf ears. I think this may be more up many peoples street. I can see NLP's gravestone - "showed such great promise and hope but alas greed killed it in the end"

    Re: Music That Inspires You

    Phooey.

It's easy to look to money as the culprit, but all money does is follow the trail of peoples' actions, which start with their intentions.

Instead, let's look somewhere else. And where better than the caustic wit of Frank Zappa to provide an attitude adjustment?

DUMB ALL OVER (can't provide a YouTube link where I am, so here's the lyrics for now...)

    Whoever we are
    Wherever we're from
    We shoulda noticed by now
    Our behavior is dumb
    And if our chances
    Expect to improve
It's gonna take a lot more
    Than tryin' to remove
    The other race
    Or the other whatever
    From the face
    Of the planet altogether
    They call it THE EARTH
Which is a dumb kinda name
    But they named it right
    'Cause we behave the same...
    We are dumb all over
    Dumb all over,
    Yes we are
    Dumb all over,
    Near'n far
    Dumb all over
    Black 'n white
People, we is not wrapped tight
    Nerds on the left
    Nerds on the right
    Religious fanatics
    On the air every night
    Sayin' the Bible
    Tells the story
    Makes the details
    Sound real gory
    'Bout what to do
    If the geeks over there
    Don't believe in the book
    We got over here
    You can't run a race
    Without no feet
    'N pretty soon
    There won't be no street
    For dummies to jog on
    Or doggies to dog on
    Religious fanatics
Can make it be all gone
(I mean it won't blow up
    'N disappear
    It'll just look ugly
    For a thousand years...)
    You can't run a country
    By a book of religion
    Not by a heap
Or a lump or a smidgeon
    Of foolish rules
    Of ancient date
    Designed to make
    You all feel great
    While you fold, spindle
    And mutilate
    Those unbelievers
    From a neighboring state
    TO ARMS! TO ARMS!
    Hooray! That's great
    Two legs ain't bad
    Unless there's a crate
    They ship the parts
    To mama in
For souvenirs: two ears (Get down!)
Not his, not hers (but what the hey?)
    The Good Book says:
    "It's gotta be that way!"
    But their book says:
    "REVENGE THE CRUSADES. . .
    With whips 'n chains
    'N hand grenades. . ."
    TWO ARMS? TWO ARMS?
    Have another and another
    Our God says:
    "There ain't no other!"
    Our God says
    "It's all okay!"
Our God says "This is the way!"
    It says in the book:
    "Burn 'n destroy. ..
    'N repent, 'n redeem
    'N revenge, 'n deploy
    'N rumble thee forth
To the land of the unbelieving scum on the other side
'Cause they don't go for what's in the book
    'N that makes 'em BAD
So verily we must choppeth them up
    And stompeth them down
Or rent a nice French bomb
To poof them out of existence
While leaving their real estate just where we need it
    To use again
For temples in which to praise OUR GOD
("Cause he can really take care of business!")
And when his humble TV servant
    With humble white hair
    And humble glasses
    And a nice brown suit
And maybe a blonde wife who takes phone calls
    Tells us our God says
It's okay to do this stuff
    Then we gotta do it,
'Cause if we don't do it,
We ain't gwine up to hebbin!
(Depending on which book you're using at the time...
    Can't use theirs. . .it don't work . . .it's all lies...Gotta use mine...)
    Ain't that right?
    That's what they say
    Every night...
    Every day. ..
Hey, we can't really be dumb
    If we're just following
    God's Orders
    Hey, let's get serious...
    God knows what he's doin'
    He wrote this book here
    An'the book says:
He made us all to be just like Him,"
    so...
    If we're dumb...
    Then God is dumb...
(An' maybe even a little ugly on the side)

I hope my money making jibe is not misinterpreted. I quit teaching because I was working 60 hrs a week and getting paid for 24 at £13 pound an hour. I did the math, realised I could stack shelves and earn more. Then enrolled on an NLP practitioner course with HUGE pound signs in my eyes. A mornings training of teachers for £1000? Yes please

    Re: Music That Inspires You

Nothing Carol. The ever intelligent and infinitely knowledge generous Peter Salisbury posted a thread about ethics in NLP from which I suggested what Malcom had quoted above for NLP to be truly ethical here
What Do You Consider Important and Ethical in NLP.

I didn't realise at the time but Chris had put forward the notion that NLP could learn from how CBT has become so prolific. But that will not come from the current culture...

I too love this thread, Jangchub. I like your selection but,

    now for something completely different.

    Lyric.

I know the pieces fit 'cause I watched them fall away
    Mildewed and smoldering, fundamental differing
Pure intention juxtaposed will set two lover's souls in motion
Disintegrating as it goes, testing our communication
The light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us
So we can not see to reach an end, crippling our communication

I know the pieces fit, 'cause I watched them tumble down
No fault, none to blame, that doesn't mean I don't desire
To point the finger, blame the other, watch the Temple topple over
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication

The poetry has come from the squaring off between
And the circling is worth it
    Finding beauty in the dissonance

There was a time that the pieces fit, but I watched them fall away
Mildewed and smoldering, strangled by our coveting
I've done the math enough to know the dangers of a second guessing
Doomed to crumble unless we grow and strengthen our communication

Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion

    Between supposed lovers
    Between supposed brothers

But I know the pieces fit
    I know the pieces fit
    I know the pieces fit
    I know the pieces fit
    I know the pieces fit
    I know the pieces fit
    I know the pieces fit
And I know the pieces fit

and, note interesting eye accessing cues towards the end

    Lyric,

    We barely remember
Who or what came before this precious moment
We are choosing to be here
    Right now
    Hold on, stay inside

    This holy reality;
    This holy experience

    Choosing to be here in
    This body
    This body holding me
Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
    This body
    This body holding me
Feeling eternal, all this pain is an illusion

    Alive!

    I'm...
    In this holy reality
    In this holy experience

    Choosing to be here in
    This body
    This body holding me
Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
    This body
    This body holding me
Feeling eternal, all this pain is an illusion

Twirling 'round with this familiar parabol
Spinning, weaving 'round each new experience
Recognize this as a holy gift and
    Celebrate this chance to be

    Alive and breathing
    A chance to be
    Alive and breathing

    This body holding me
Reminds me of my own mortality
    Embrace this moment, remember
We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion

A musical mash up of youtube kittens..

    Singing Kitties - rathergood.com

A lego/computer game hommage for those who grew up in the days of lego and 8-bit computers and sound cards.. This guy spent 1,500 hours playing with lego for the animation and taking photos of each shot - its all by hand not CGI.. That's some incredible dedication for a 3.49 film!
