Whilst flying home throught the lanes earlier on my way home, I had the music pumping and reflecting on my day whilst looking forward to catching up on what messages I have missed on the forum so far today. I thought about the religion debates going on and thinking what inspiration Phil will be sending my way later via his Elementary Education post. Then I realised what I was listening on my car stereo was awsome and sooo relevant for the numerous topics we have going on.
I love this group and wanted to share the lyrics. The lyrics, read them and notice the empowerment and acknowedgement that each persons religion can be whatever they choose. I want you to soak up the lyrics before you watch and listen to the track, it may not be what you were expecting. I have heard religion being a devotion to a football club, surfing, their family or what they see inside their soul regardless of whether it makes sence to anyone else. For me, what I find inside me when I get moments of introspection is where I take my inspiration and guidance. For this guy, his music is his religion and God is a DJ (from a group called Faithless ironically!)
Picture the chap in the middle of a dancefloor, eyes shut and allowng the beat to energise and heal him, nothing to do in life but soak up the music, which to be honest, is probably the best way to experience this song.
This is my church, this is where I heal my hurt,
It's a natural grace of watching young life shape in it's in minor keys, provide solutions and remedies
Enemies becoming friends and when bitterness ends
This is my church, this is where I heal my hurts
It's in the world I become contained in the hum between voice and drum
It's in the change, the poetic justice of cause and effect - Respect, love, compassion
This is my church and this is where I heal my hurt
For tonight ..... God is a DJ
(Let the cats and dogs out and turn the speakers up to 11 and hit the link when you are ready! - the main song kicks in about about 3 mins)
(anyone here regular Gastonbury Festival attendees?)
or, same 'God is a DJ' principal but different delivery
I could 'rave' about my music collection all day but I will leave you to explore the links you tube give you regarding Faithless, on your surfing try and come across another Faithless track called Mass Destruction, who says dance music has no soul, they dont call it Trance for no reason!
BTW, if your surfing time is short tonight, here is a direct link to Mass Destruction.
My other inspirational tracks would provide a huge list, if anyone wants to taste the cream the it would have to be anything by Dido (Life for Rent or Thank You) If my heart could talk, it would sound like a Dido song.
or
Fix You by Coldplay, Cats in the Cradle by Cat Stevens, REM - Everybody Hurts to name a few. An all time cheesy but guarenteed to get the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up or to get one more set out of me at the gym is Whitney Houston, One moment in time.
Peace out,
Matt
