Do you think that's Narcissistic? Nah. The greatest love is in the center of you right now...
Wish I could have found a sound clip. Here are the lyrics.
Love yourself!

Posts: 339 | | | Re: Music That Inspires You My passion is music from the movies. And, no, I'm not talking about the 'Top Gun' soundtrack or 'Fame'. Nor am I talking about the modern crash-bang-wallop and 'everything requires an apocalyptic chorus' themeless muzak that is normal fare for the modern Hollywood blockbuster. (I swear, come Fantastic Four 3, even Reed Richards reaching for a box of cornflakes will be scored with a Carmina Burana soundalike.)
But I love a certain generation of film music - the scores of Miklos Rosza (Ben Hur, El Cid, Spellbound), Bernard Herrmann (Vertigo, Marnie, The Ghost and Mrs Muir), Ennio Morricone (The Good The Bad And The Ugly, The Mission) and my favourite John Barry (Goldfinger, Out Of Africa, Walkabout, Midnight Cowboy, etc)
What I love about this kind of film music is it not only elicit states but it kind of does a musical 'nested loops' thing, as the music carries arcs of story, character and emotion through journeys to a conclusion.
So, to answer the question ...
I find many themes and cues from films 'inspirational' in different ways. One of my favourites if I want to get into a peak 'up for it' state is Bill Conti's Rocky theme.
Anyway, peace to all.

What film score composers can do with a piece of music to carry the story is amazing. You may often notice that the same musical theme can be shaped by changes in key, tonality, tempo, dynamic, instrumentation...the possibilities are endless...to match the drama, while creating musical continuity throughout!
This is a very interesting topic for sure.
Have you considered the work of Takemitsu? His work along these lines was exemplary--perhaps is best known film score is the one for Ran. (my name means love) phil | | | | Message posted: 2nd Sep 08, 02:00 pm

Posts: 321 | | | I am a real sucker for metal, especially 80s metal. Anything that includes the amazing of vocals of Ronnie James Dio, Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford gives me inspiration. I'm also a big fan of great guitarists such as Tony Iommi, Joe Satriani, Randy Rhoads, Dave Mustaine and Jimmy Hendrix.
