Advertising in the Police Gazette Scam.

It's that time of year again where the legendary "Alan Davis" from <Insert County> Police Association, or <Insert County> Police Gazette or some related organisation starts calling round "specially selecting" participants in his famous publication.

I've spoken with this guy quite a lot over recent years as i`m am often "specially selected", he must get abused quite often on the telephone, because he always seems rather surprised when I do so - and i`ve done so often.

Anyway, to the point - given the dialling code, i think he may be quite local to my area. If anyone else gets to speak to him, any chance they could ask for a contact address (I got carried away and forgot) and let me have it. I'll see if i can pop round and get a photo for a fan site.

    Thanks,

    Andrew "I`m special" Austin

There is also the chance to advertise in the police diary.

They start off by saying "I'm calling on behalf of the police".
The correct response is, I'll be delighted to talk to you providing you are not from a publisher. At this point they hang up.

I get a couple of these a year, perhaps I am special.

Ah telemarketers, I gotta love ‘em (you don't?). the delightful sound of a ‘call to consistency’ coming down the phone, and in this case the 'governing body' is the cops - you don't get much more authority than that! All together now " Ahh Bless"

I got phoned by him last weekend Andrew but he'd witheld his number and when I asked who else he'd talked to in this area (Warwickshire)he named two guys who'd been telling me about him a few days earlier. When I told him I'd discussed him with these people and we weren't interested,he quickly said thank you and goodbye
So,good for you, go on and do some detective work and get the spiv,it'd be great.
Good luck and if he calls again I'll try to get more info out of him.
    Regards,Anna
