| Charging for Coaching Work. Last week I attended an excellent session on “coaching with NLP”. During one of the exercises I discovered that I have an issue that is holding me back, I initially thought it was about confidence or competence but the core issue seems to be that I find it hard to justify to myself charging money for coaching.
I have been running my own electronics company for over 20 years now and in the last few years have seen big improvements in the fortunes of my company following work I have done in NLP and related fields. I work fewer hours and I now find selling, motivating, confidence and many other things so much easier. This is reflected in the success of my company. I know that a lot of other small business owners would benefit from my coaching to help them make similar improvements but there is a snag.
I spent 6 years at university building my electronics and software skills and my expertise is recognised by an internationally recognised professional body which allows me to call myself a Chartered engineer.
I have spent less than a month in total training in NLP and coaching and my expertise is not recognised by any nationally approved body.
I can’t get my head around charging my current hourly rate for coaching work, let alone the 2 or 3 times that seems to be the norm. I would like to take on a few clients in addition to running my electronics company but I don’t feel ready to market these services with my present mindset.
Any thoughts on if/how I should approach this ?
