Conversational Trance

Hi All,

I have noticed that, obviously, eliciting a trance state in the practioner with other like minded souls is a relatively simple affair. Similarly I have managed to get others into a trance state when talking to them in the context of change.

However, when reading about Milton Ericson I note that he seemed to constantly manage to get patients into a trance with only limited pacing and leading while in the course of a normal conversation.

To date I have not, to my knowledge, been able to do this with others but on occasion it would have been a good skill to have available. A good example of this is Michael's Glasgow mugging episode where it simply diffused a potentially dangerous situation(I'll let him elaborate if he likes).

Obviously rapport is the most fundamental and most important step but how can I lead to trance in a normal converstation. i.e. what elements do you incorporate that work well for you? How specifically, what specifically when specifically and of course, all the time?!

In addition any tips for practicing this without a practice group or tips on CDs etc?

Thanks in advance for you help and input.

Regards,

David
